Expansive state park with camping, rock climbing & hiking, amid impressive granite rock formations.

Great granite blocks! Hikers will enjoy scrambling among them, and climbers recognize this place as among the highest concentrations of quality moderate trad routes in the country. Great place to acclimitize before heading to higher peaks. Hikers - please know your limits, the climbers you may see free soloing or roped climbing have trained in ways you haven't.

8/25/22- City of Rocks is a beautiful remote location. All campsites had something special to offer, well set out tent pads, great views, easy access to awesome climbing routes or trails, some sites were walk-ins set among the privacy of trees and foliage, others are adjoining parking lots which may be an advantage to those wanting to be near restrooms. Sites could be found completely isolated or clustered together if your camping with a larger group. The restrooms are pit toilets but were immaculately clean and stocked. Friendly park rangers serviced the restrooms daily and were present to answer any questions. There was a water spigot at the Bath Rock parking area but was being serviced at the time of our visit. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again!

Holy Moly, Rock & Rolly. This place is amazing! So many beautiful rocks to enjoy. I'm a bit bummed that it's a little early to enjoy the whole park, due to snow and road conditions. They really need to pave the main road. But I will be back, maybe mid May. Rangers at the Visitor's Center are really helpful and cool.

This place has a ton of hiking 🥾 trails and as most of you know, it has all levels of rock climbing. 🧗‍♂️I, myself, do not do any climbing other than into my bed every night. 🛌😁The rock formations are pretty cool. 😎There’s plenty of places to camp but I’m not a camper either. 🤷‍♀️So we stayed in a hotel nearby. I just like to take pictures 📸of these beautiful sites and the adventurer’s. So, here’s some of my photos.

LISA HANEY — Google review

Beautiful landscape. It is not the most dramatic rock formation in the world but if you live a few hours nearby, a visit is well worth it. Allegedly the rocks are from 2 billion years ago. We were lucky to see it while covered with a thin veil in snow. I especially love all the vegetation that looks like little balls of rocks too. There is good hotel options around. The visitor center is also a gem and certainly do read the geology book there.

What a gorgeous place! I feel like it gets overshadowed by Craters of the Moon or the big national parks to the east, but City of Rocks is most definitely worth a visit. In addition to the spectacular rock formations, there’s a lot of neat information on the Oregon Trail emigrants. One thing I’ll note is to definitely check the website before going to see if the road is open. We did not and the route we took was closed. However the park ranger, who could not have been friendlier and more helpful, coached us in.

Alex Demas — Google review

City of Rocks is awesome! So much to do for literally anyone! Awesome rock climbing, great hikes, accessible look out points, and the vibes are immaculate. Everyone was so friendly and respectful. To me, that really made this place special. The road through the park is gravel and it did get a little slippery when it rained briefly. Personally, I think that adds to the appeal. You really feel like you're out in the mountains and I really appreciate that. Highly highly recommend visiting!

Beautiful granite natural marvel. Onway to Twin fall city, first we reached Visitor center for information. It opens from 8am to 4.30pm. With passage of time weathering of granite rocks occurred giving different shapes to rocks, displaying steeples, cathedral, pyramids, windows etc. Few important rocks are Treasure, Register, Camp, Elephant, Bath rock to see. One can enjoy Rock climbing, camping, hiking, horse riding, picnicking activities. No entry fee for park.Pets must be leashed.Drones flying is prohibited.Campfire is allowed in designated areas.Washroom facility is limited.Beautiful place to enjoy granite spell bound beauty.

Anil Aggarwal — Google review

Wow! My dogs and I enjoyed walking around and would love to take longer trails once the snow melts!

Love this park. It is beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was there were no bathrooms, you have to go all the way to the visitor center, which wS well maintained. There also isn't no parking. You have to pull off to the side of the road. It does offer several camp grounds that are located in the park. The park is well maintained. I will definitely return, this is a must see

Charlene Sherry Kay Seres — Google review

We stayed the week before Christmas for a night. We were the only ones in the campground area and it was AMAZING. Beautiful views, lots of animal tracks, and cool rocks to explore. Such a cool spot.

Mattie Oveross — Google review

This is a rock climbers paradise. As a person who has done a little rock climbing it was interesting to see. As a hiker, we hiked the 6.5 mile south and north Creek circle loop. It was a fun hike with some views but nothing spectacular. I think the most confusing aspect was the campground situation. The campsites are spread throughout the reserve on the main road or just off it. We reserved campsite 3, not realizing it was 4 miles south of the main group of campsites and main road. If you want to be in the midst of the main city of rocks you should reserve a site 5-xx. 1-4 are 4 miles south. Site 3 was ok but it sits right in a gap in the rocks and if it is windy the wind will probably howl right past your tent or small camper like it did while we were there. Making it too windy for a fire or sitting outside in the evening. Site 2 is a little more protected and site 4 is a tent site only and a decent walk from your vehicle which would sit on a very sloped surface. We were glad we went but one night was enough to get a good idea what the reserve is like since we are not climbers.

Dave Highsmith — Google review

Incredible. Quite a few people and a lot of kiddos. It's hard to not act like one of the kids when you're here. It's so much fun climbing and crawling around on the rocks. Wear shoes with any type of grip, there's a lot of slick rock. Make sure to check out Register Rock, where the people on the Oregon/California Trail wrote their names on the rock in axle grease. Very cool. This place was also a place of reverence for the native people.I hope everyone is respectful of this beautiful place. They do have vault restrooms and trash cans, so utilize those. (By throwing away your trash and packing out what you packed in.)

Stacie Hansen — Google review

One day will not be enough! Camp at the twin sisters and take the large loop one day, and the more inner trails the next! Read up on the history before you go, and you won't be able to stop imagining all the natives/cowboys and pioneers that came through. Bring bear spray, there are big cats. I didn't see or hear any on my trip but stay prepared!

Joshua Matal — Google review

I don’t know how this place can be so unknown—it’s fantastic! Great little hikes, tons of climbing and bouldering, camping, stunning rock formations and wildflowers, and plenty for birders to scope out. The folks at the Visitors Center are well informed, kind, and extremely helpful as well. My friend and I spent several hours here, but this is well worth staying a few days. The National Parks Service app has a couple of great self-guided tours for some of the shorter hikes so you can learn about the geology and history of the area too.

Karly Bryant — Google review

Mostly known for its climbing opportunities. We found the hikes to be pretty spectacular in June. If you wait until July or August, it's probably going to be too hot because a lot of the hikes are exposed in high desert. The geology is amazing.Stop at the visitor center first and talk to Russ. Pick up a map. Do the interpretive trail using their website explanations. All the roads in the park are dirt, but they're well-maintained and smooth.

Bridge

Sights & Landmarks

The Perrine Memorial Bridge is a truss-arch bridge that spans the Snake River, known for its minimalist construction and impressive height. This landmark has some historical significance as it was featured in Evel Knievel's attempted jump across the river in 1974. In addition to its history, this location offers breathtaking scenery and provides visitors with opportunities to enjoy natural wonders while also being an exciting destination for BASE jumping enthusiasts.

This place is unreal. We got there and there were BASE jumpers jumping off the bridge. It was fantastic and a most see. Great parking and friendly people around. If you drive by Twin Falls, please stop by and check it out. Your won’t be disappointed.

David Parra — Google review

Absolutely breathtaking especially during sunset! This is also in the winter.. during summer it’s even more beautiful!! Definitely recommend to stop by and check it out if you’re ever in the area. So beautiful here!! There’s even some lava rock sediments on a hill. So beautiful.

Julia Riley, Your Idaho Treasure Valley Realtor — Google review

Captain Ahab of Ahab's Adventures enjoying the view of modern engineering that is Perrine Memorial Bridge. We had planned to hike from here to the Evel Knievel jump site, but right before got a local tip to access it via a secret location. Though our stay was short at the viewing point, you could see why this site is so popular literally being near just about any amenity you could think of while in Twin Falls.

Geeg Wiles — Google review

Can access the overlook from either direction. Some great views. It was hot out there today 7-23 so I retreated back to the car's AC after a quick video and a few pictures. Definitely worth a stop if close or passing by

Perrine Memorial Bridge is a stunning architectural marvel that spans the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, Idaho. Offering panoramic views of the majestic canyon and the captivating Snake River below, it's a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. This iconic bridge is a true gem of engineering and natural beauty.

Mark Garza — Google review

It's a super fun and beautiful experience! Base jumping experience was super exciting. Thank you, Colby, for sharing your jump with us!

Deanna V — Google review

A cool landmark and feature over the canyon. You can get great views from Centennial Park and there is a pull out so you can walk under the bridge on the north side.If you are lucky, you can see base jumpers jumping off the bridge. Kind of a "oh my" moment when you see them leap off the bridge.

Adam Cook — Google review

Beautiful truss arch 4 lane bridge, 457meter long & 148 meter above snake river. Amazing views of bridge from visitors center which is at south end of bridge. Popular & only man-made allowed structure for base jumping. Lot of base jumpers were getting ready for jumping when we visited. From top of bridge views are stunning of snake river canyonYou can go under bridge also on trail.

Anil Aggarwal — Google review

Beautiful scenery it's a must for anyone driving through this place has some history with evel knievel trying to jump across the snake river back in 1974 but failed also people base jump off the bridge just taking a walk and enjoying the natural wonders its relaxing and fun.

Fabian Ramos — Google review

This bridge is absolutely free of charge and has enough entertainment for your entire family for hours. No wonder it's a huge tourist attraction. Thanks to the city of Twin and the entities that support all these facilities. You can watch base jumpers (that sometimes end up in the river). You can walk or jog the long trails and across the bridge. You can go under on both sides, so every inch of the area is pedestrian-friendly. You can read history and see the various monuments. There are free, clean restrooms nearby. Easy, free parking. Shade, or a breeze. Views for (literally) miles.

Todd Beck — Google review

Beautiful spot. There is a little parking for the scenic lookout on both sides of the highway. It is a couple of meters after/before the bridge. The sad thing is: I caught on the camera some kids, under the supervision of their parents, grafting the handrails. That is not right.

Renata Hedman — Google review

Excellent bird of the snake river if you’re brave enough to walk across. You can pull off and park on either side just on the way out of or into town on highway 93. Once you get to the bridge on foot choose which side to walk on by using the stairs and connecting path underneath. There’s one on either side so if you go across you can come back on a different side and still get back to your car. My advice is the railing will turn your hand black with dirt so be prepared with wipes and please pack them back out with you. Oh! And you might see some BASE jumping too

Margaret Chicoine — Google review

It's definitely worth the stop to check out and walk around. If you're lucky, you may catch a base jumper jumping from this 498 foot bridge down to the river side below. This is 1 of 2 bridges in the world that doesn't require a permit to base jump, and the only one in the U.S.

Chris Setzer — Google review

The Perrine Memorial Bridge is quite the impressive sight! It is a little nerve-wracking driving across as the bridge is very tall. It is an incredible engineering feat to span such a large gap at such a high elevation! You can apparently go base jumping off it, but we didn’t try that.

Grant Heil — Google review

Cool feat of engineering with gorgeous views of the canyon. Definitely worth a five or ten minute stop. Bonus is that the spot where Evel Knievel attempted to fly across the snake river canyon can be viewed a mile or so westward.

Philip Getchell — Google review

So much fun! I enjoyed this, but make sure you find the right place to park! There's a shopping center, access the bridge from that parking lot. This gives you access to a cool statue and all the overlooks into the canyon and the best view of the bridge ... o, and access to paver pathways under the highway etc. if you wanted to walk. Overall, a quick stop, maybe 30 mins to appreciate it [w/o walking too far/much], and photograph. I thought it was worth it.

Paul Rose — Google review

Very cool to see this section of the canyon & snake river up close. Apparently, this is also a fav spot for base jumpers. Evel Kinevel monument was a wonderful bonus!

Karen Heinrich — Google review

If you're lucky you can see BASE jumping! I was passing through town, drove across the bridge and saw a girl jumping off the bridge. So pulled over at one of the several parking lots, and spent the next 45 minutes watching many jumpers. Very awesome bridge!! And so awesome that it's apparently not illegal to jump. Good job to the local government or whoever allows it.

William Elliott — Google review

This bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho on across Snake River is a marvelous peice of architecture. The visitor center is also very beautiful. It has restrooms and big parking lot. There is hiking trail around the bridge. Also people jump off the balloon from this bridge. We loved the whole scenery. People were walking their dogs/ hiking etc. the gorgeous Snake river flowing underneath looked very pretty.

Waterfalls

Shoshone Falls Park features green space that includes a boat launch, scenic overlook, trails, picnic areas and a concession stand. The park is renowned for Shoshone Falls, Idaho's most iconic waterfall which reaches full force during late summer after snow melt-off. However, visitors should be aware of the potential for wildfires during this time. River levels will be lower and warmer than usual making it an ideal spot for beginners to try out whitewater rafting.

Shoshone falls park is absolutely worth the drive, worth the stop!! It is a gorgeous view, a beautiful grounds for having a picnic lunch, has restrooms to use, dog friendly, has a gift shop, and you can order lunch, snacks & drinks! The gal working the gift shop was SO nice! She was friendly, efficient, and down to earth. The view of the falls is spectacular, and we even made some new friends!Overall, I highly recommend stopping her for a while to visit and take in the beautiful views!

Mindy Macklin — Google review

A must-see on your tour of America’s sites. Taller than Niagara Falls, Shoshone is as breathtaking as it is beautiful. The powerful water streams are stunning to view, hear, and feel. The falls are thunderously loud. There is plenty of vehicle parking, with gentle green hills for children to play in or dogs to catch an exercise break. A small snack shop provides sundries. Tons of information about Shoshone is posted throughout. Take a guided or self-guided tour, up to you. There are trails that extend into the Canyon Rim if you’re feeling athletic, or simply want a different vantage point of the falls. I love visiting - we usually catch a rainbow in the mist 🌈

Sylvia Cordes — Google review

The park staff were super friendly! Unfortunately when we went, the falls weren't full and one of the water paths had dried up. Still worth the admission, they have several different viewing areas to get a glimpse of the falls. Go earlier in the spring and summer if you want to see the full falls.

Grant Heil — Google review

Shoshone Falls Park is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Idaho, offering a breathtaking natural spectacle that will leave you in awe. This majestic waterfall rivals even the grandeur of Niagara Falls with its powerful cascade plunging into the Snake River Canyon. The park boasts well-maintained trails, scenic viewpoints, and picnic areas perfect for a family outing or a romantic escapade. The surrounding landscape is stunning, providing a picturesque backdrop for photography enthusiasts. Visitors can witness rainbows dancing in the mist and feel the cool spray on their faces. Shoshone Falls Park is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Mark Garza — Google review

Shoshone Falls was quite the surprise for me! We were in town visiting some friends, so we decided to go check out the falls along the way. This is one of the only places I have ever seen a double rainbow in all my years of being in nature so that was a very nice surprise to see! The falls can get a little busy, but they weren't bad moving around and taking pictures. There are a number of birds that fly down near the falls as well so you can get some great shots with the double rainbow going over the falls. This is a must see if you are in the area!

Jeremy Janus — Google review

Early morning is a lovely time to visit. I arrived early enough that they hadn't opened the spillway and you can see a picture where the waterfall wasn't flowing. An hour later they had opened the dam and the waterfall was running in all it's non-spring glory. Spring time is amazing in comparison as the whole waterfall from side to side is cascading. There is a path for bicycling and walking toward the rim and along it. It's well worth the experience. The beautiful stream waterfall in my pictures is available at the head of that path and is a lovely place to sit and enjoy for a couple minutes

Scott Reimers — Google review

A complete surprise in the canyon. We stayed in Twin Falls, ID we were talking to some locals about how nice the town was and they made the suggestion to go see the twin falls at Shoshone Falls Park. The next morning before we left town we went and we were so glad that we did! This is a beautiful place and if you're in the area, I highly recommend to visit. It was a five dollar per car entry fee, to drive into the canyon to go to the park, viewing area and lake entry and they have a pool there as well.We had Jolie Fleur so I could walk her in the beautiful green grass with many trees for shade. There were tables for families. Parking was good but with the amount of people coming into park, they could use more spots. The viewing areas were very well done. We were both amazed with the cleanliness of the park. Note, the drive into the canyon is narrow & winding so be prepared, but it is doable. What I have learned, take time to see the local beauty as you pass through a town or area. You'll be richer for it.

Tina Travel Trails (T,K & J Adventures) — Google review

Even though it was a dry when we came it was still stunning!I've seen amazing falls from South America, Hawaii, and Niagara and Shoshone holds its own! It's almost mind-boggling how this place just comes out of nowhere farm land. Nice town to stay in as well. We will come back when the falls are actually flowing but regardless it's a beautiful park! $5 entry fee is worth it.

Jonathan Whitten — Google review

Excellent Views!! Fun for everyone!! Incredible History!! The water wasn't flowing heavy yet! But it was real neat to see it in this state!! (Before they release the water!) Always Love to frequent this Magical place!! New views every time you go!!

Magic Valley Estate Sales — Google review

Shoshone Falls Park was a delightful experience. The falls were beautiful, the grass lush green, even in August. Well manicured areas to throw down a picnic. The road from the gate to the falls could use some work, yet that is understandable considering the terrain. Take your time around the corners and you shall be fine easy in , easy out. Ample parking and I do suggest that RVs and those pulling a trailer use the designated parking for such vehicles.Safety note, the signs that warn of danger are not a joke and I employ person's to heed them, as they are there for a reasonThe concession stand was well maintained and had great prices. Do not expect a Kobe burger flown in from Japan, it is just a burger. Thus saying the price is right.Enjoy the trip to and from and take a bit of time to look at the falls from different angles, provided in different areas. Shoshone Falls is definitely worth a visit and a bit of time to relax and enjoy the beauty that is our planet full of wonders.

Terrell Donald — Google review

Just a really beautiful park with easy access to view the falls! Don’t worry about hiking, the parking lot is right next to the viewing areas! We came in late June 2023 and the falls were looking amazing!

Josh Cole — Google review

This is a beautiful park with spectacular views. The little walk-up gift shop was unique because everything is behind the counter and they bring out things for you to see close up. The restrooms have flush toilets though the facilities are dated. The grounds are beautifully kept. There is a lot of shade in the tree-area. It's well worth a visit when the falls have a good flow year.

Shauna Dayley — Google review

This park was so nice! So much shade, a nice little stream, some benches, and it's so big! There is a restroom and souvenirs and dogs are allowed on leash. There are walking paths and bike paths! So much fun! And the falls are gorgeous!!!

Shoshone falls is a must see attraction in Twin Falls city of Idaho. Also called "Niagara of West". About 5km from main city. It is on snake river canyon. Height is 212 feet (higher than Niagara) & width is 1000 feet. Flow is seasonal. Park is well maintained with few benches, lot of trees. Washroom facility available.Vehicle entry fee is $ 5.Virws are spectacular from view plateform.Although less water falls in September, still a beautiful place to visit.

Anil Aggarwal — Google review

Gorgeous rock formations and some very nice and easily accessible viewing platforms. The Snake River is very wide and looks so beautiful with its rich greenish color. Some of the rock formations are so white and look so pretty in contrast with the river. It is very relaxing to be there.

It was the 'low season', but still powerful and well worth the visit. No fees, camping areas, and picnic tables to include porta potties. A fun side stop.

Couldn't access the actual waterfall due to the road being blocked, closed. Roads were plowed but there was no access to drive your vehicle. Pretty disappointing. But it looks like a beautiful area. We'll have to return!

Modern museum showcasing exhibits on historic cleaning techniques & tools, with brooms, tubs & more.

The Museum of Clean is a really fun experience. The displays are clever and informative, with just enough “potty humor” to please even the most conservative of crowds. There are lots of interactive displays that leave you wondering just how anyone managed to have a clean house before a fusion vacuum and modern plumbing. The museum imparts the idea of being clean, not just how to clean. Definitely a worthwhile visit if you have a free afternoon.

Gwendolyn Anderson — Google review

We weren't sure what to expect but it was a fun time. Our daughters loved the Kid Planet! We all learned a lot about the history of cleaning. It was all really interesting and it was fun to see it! Staff were friendly and at it was our first time, she made sure we knew where everything was.

John Burgoyne — Google review

Most highly recommend this delightful, unique museum! You will not regret it! They also have things for children. I loved all the history and creativity found there. Thanks Don for your vision to a truly enjoyable place. I took over 100 pictures, but here are some. I loved the sculptures, art gallery, clean orchestra, the vacuum floor, etc!

You don't know the meaning of clean until you have been here! This may just have been the quirkiest of all the quirky places we've been so far on our cross country road trip. 100% worth the modest admission fee. Interesting, fun, funny. Exhibits for everyone, young and old. It was a very great way to spend a couple of hours. Very valuable!

Incredible experience for the whole family! This museum offers an abundance of knowledge on cleaning like never before. It's the realization of one man's remarkable dream. Don, the visionary behind it all, can often be found strolling through the museum, ready to answer any questions. If you're fortunate enough to encounter him, I strongly urge you to seize the opportunity and engage in a conversation.

Really amazing! I had no idea this place existed! They had fun things for the kids to do such as cleaning laundry in a bucket with a plunger washer thing and then they could run it through a ringer and then pin it on a clothes line.Vacuums for days! It's good clean fun 😆

Bird Fleck — Google review

Super interesting and pleasantly surprised at the variety. Very interactive, kiddos loved the kid dome and Texas sized object scavenger hunt. We could have spent more time there if kiddos weren't hungry, so definitely plan to spend a few hours. Definitely worth checking out, even if you don't like to clean 👌

May not have been something I was terribly interested in, but once I stepped inside this huge museum, the passion of the owner, Don Aslett was quite apparent. He has dedicated his life to building a world wide cleaning Co, writing books, and collecting thousands of rare cleaning items such as vacuums, brooms, mops, etc. and placing them on display. The staff was very friendly and as a Harvest Host guest, we are thankful for the night's stay.

Stacey Pennington — Google review

Such a cool museum, I’ve never seen so many vacuums! Also the owner talked to us and showed us how some vacuums works, he is so passionate and it was contagious. Well worth the time and cheap price!

agkilian — Google review

A really fun and unique museum! I went on my own and had a blast learning about all things clean. There were a couple field trips there too and the kids looked like they were having a great time!

Julie Brough — Google review

Fun short break in a road trip. Hidden gem.Never seen that many vacuums in my life. It's the history of the vacuum. You can get through the whole exhibit in under 45 minutes.

Luca Revelli — Google review

We visited the museum in September while we were In town for a ISU-Central Arkansas football game the next day. The group I was with didn’t know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised by what we found & the extent to which this museum was presented! It was fun to learn about the cleaning industry while we all told stories about how a certain product played a part in our lives whether us using a product or or parents or grandparents using a product, or any type of commercials we remembered seeing. The museum itself was plenty big enough for their exhibits, & not shockingly at all, it was very clean. We were able to explore at our own pace which we enjoyed as well. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our side trip to the museum & would tell others to go there if they ever find themselves in Pocatello!

Steve Owens — Google review

What a cool place to visit. Had the honor of speaking with the creator and long time clean freak Don. His love and passion for "clean" are reflected in his great sense of humor. I enjoyed not only the exhibits but the cool art made from repurposed materials as well as his personal art collection on display. Thanks DonMissouri

Valarie Mceuen — Google review

Ok, so I have been to maybe hundreds of museums in my 60+ years. This one is totally "unique"! Meets the definition of "1-of-a-kind" to the T! I could have spent hours, but we were passing through and could only give an hour to the collection! Amazing collection for a man passionate about the finer art of cleaning! And yes, that is the founder Don laying back in the chair in the photo. They assured me he is only napping ! Got to check this place out if you are nearby just to appreciate what we conveniently use every day!

Cafe

Exhibits on the history & cultivation of potatoes in a former train depot with a cafe & gift shop.

This museum is great. Very informative. They have videos that teach you things like how McDonalds makes their fries. Great collection of Mr Potato head toys and a wall of potato mashers. Definitely visit the cafe while you are there. We had the loaded baked potato, tots, hand cut fries with fry sauce and the best potato soup ever!! Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Very interesting. Well maintained and super clean. Who knew there was so much to learn about the humble potato.Even the building itself is interestingGreat value!

You can either start at the cafe or the gift shop to enter the museum. There is a lot of parking and even multiple spots great for RVs.We entered at the gift shop. It had shirts, shot glasses, cups, along with multiple other trinkets, and a penny squish machine. We got some postcards and shot glasses and they were put in a mesh potato sack bag and got a package of locally grown dehydrated mashed potatoes which was entertaining. The cafe had baked potatoes with a variety of toppings, fries, tots, soup, and drinks. It smelled wonderful and we smelled potatoes for a while after. And the museum had a lot of information on... Potatoes. Along with antique and ancestral potato shaped and used items, a video, toys, kitchen appliances, talking potatoes, farm equipment, VR experience on a tractor and watching them till and moves potatoes, and a play area with Mr potato head. The reason for 4 stars... I though it was entertaining and fun but my husband found it less entertaining and said he probably wouldn't pick to go again. He was expecting real potatoes or fake planter boxes to show how more home grown ones are done too apparently.

Excellent experience! Everything you want to know about Idaho potatoes is in this museum! Definitely worth the stop! #idahopotaotes

We stopped at the potato museum in Blackfoot, Idaho. This is a simple, smaller, low tech museum. It’s small town and charming, not big budget.I’m surprised it’s not larger given the impact of potatoes on the state of Idaho. Here’s what I recommend1. Take photos of the giant potato in front of the building. There’s a smart phone holder out front so you can take photos without someone holding the phone.2. Visit the gift shop, pay for your tickets and enjoy the kitzch (spelling?).From potato soap to quirky potato peelers, there are a lot of fun items. The t-shirts could be much more fun than they are.3. Watch the talking potatoes in the basem*nt that put on a little show.4. Don’t miss the virtual reality experience. My favorite was the virtual reality ride on a 🥔 harvester. There are just 2 headsets but worth the short ride.5. Watch the the short film about McDonald’s french fries. And see the large potato chip.6. Admire the potato masher display that’s artistic.7. Go to the cafe and order a potato, fries or soup. Notice the potato print curtains.Beast potato ever! You get it within 5 mins and it’s piping hot with the noise divine fluffy soft inside. The potatoes are cooked at 400-500 degrees (there was some debate). Wrapped in foil. Cooked until soft and keep in a warmer at 140 degrees.Russset narcoda is the kind of potato. Don’t poke holes in them.We got a cupcake made with potatoes. Really good. I added sour cream, green onions, butter and tomatoes. So delicious!! And the waffle fries were incredible - fresh and hot. You can get ketchup and/or fry sauce. It’s very affordable too. Both the admission ($6 for adults) and the cafe.Take lots of photos.Overall, this could have a photo backdrop with a large potato inside. Displays of largest record breaking potatos. Am interactive display. Better more recent videos about the process and better games. It could be in a larger space. But it’s affordable and down home. Also there’s a great candy shop across the street with excellent ice cream (bubble gum with gummy bears, for example).

We had an excellent visit except when leaving the girl closing the museum was rude. As we were leaving the museum (through the gift shop). She told us ‘I’m locking up now’. It was uncomfortable - I tried to explain that we weren’t trying to enter the museum and that we were leaving after viewing. There’s also a cafe here. I ordered some yummy fries and my partner ordered chili fries. If it weren’t for the rude service when we were exiting I would definitely recommend visiting this place if you have an hour so spare. Also if you’re from out of state you get a free instant potato packet. If you have AAA or military ID they offer a small discount on admission.

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the Idaho Potato Museum. The building appears small; however, the museum is rather grand. Inside you'll find information starting from native America, ending in the modern day. They have paraphernalia of all kinds including farming, baking, alcohol, commercial, and toys. You can even see a potato signed by Al Gore! They have two virtual reality headsets that allow you to see a potato harvest and computers with games. There is a small theater; however, I wasn't able to watch the show because the kiddos were happily taking me all over the museum .There are public restrooms in the museum that are amazingly clean and smell that way too. Overall, a fascinating place and I'm happy to have gone. There is a small gift shop with some fun items and the staff were friendly and personable. In a word, awesome.Lastly, the potato bar is very yummy and reasonably priced. Try the fried potato dollars, absolutely fabulous. We highly recommend a visit!

This was such a fun place to visit! A must-see! Love all the information and there was lots to see in there and the staff was awesome! Don't forget to go to the potato cafe next door as it was delicious and lots of different toppings to choose from!

This place is so much fun. I never knew there was so much to learn about potatoes! It costs a small amount to go into the museum portion but it's worth the money. They have a neat little gift shop and also a cafe with All Things Potatoes to eat. Super fun!

The evening was peaceful in the parking lot. The train came through at 4am. Four out of five of us in our party slept through the horn noise. The store had a great and unique selection. The museum was actually informative, interesting, and interactive. The adults learned a few things as did the kids. The cafe was delicious with great prices. We first thought this would be a tourist trap but quickly realized it was a delightful experience.

I had a lovely experience here on a random Friday afternoon. It was very interesting learning about potatoes. I was surprised on all there is to know about them. How they grow, harvest, transport, types, history, etc. At the end, they have a restaurant where you can dine in.I had a very lovely baked potato for lunch and a huckleberry flavored soda crafted in Jackson Hole. I bought a really nice cotton T-shirt from their gift shop.

Kapra C-R — Google review

This place is SO COOL!!! We drove 12 hours and were not disappointed. There's actually a lot of hands-on things for all ages and the exhibits are informative. If you come here, you definitely should at least get fries from the cafe. They have a different garnish for their baked potatoes every day. We had sausage gravy during our visit to the museum. We came back the second day just to go to the cafe and got chili and cheese on a baked potato. I definitely recommend a visit here if you're anywhere near Idaho.

This museum was awesome. I grew up here in Idaho and had no idea the cool history behind the potato. Definitely worth a visit if you have the time. The gift shop and lunch counter are awesome as well.

Cute potato museum, lots of information and interactive features. The gift shop had some fun items that we HAD to have. The Potato Cafe 🥔 had some gluten free options and we had baked potatoes, French fries, tater tots. They offer a senior discount. Adults that do not qualify for the senior discount were $6/each at the time of this review (June 2023).

What a fun little museum. From the huge potato outside to the random facts you can review inside its a cute place to visit. They have a little souvenir shoo where you can find something fun as a keep sake. They also have a little Cafe to get yourself some delicious backed potatoes to end your visit. Take the kids in for a short stop to learn some history of the Idaho potato.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

A broad range of international animals on display, plus a petting zoo & bird aviary, spring to fall.

You can never go wrong with a guick trip to this zoo. My grandson loves it here and enjoys seeing all his "friends". We come here enough that he knows where all his favorites are. The animals are all well cared for and the enclosures are very natural looking. This year there are at least 3 new babies!

Carolyn Neblett — Google review

This is a great zoo! There are lots of animals to see and they are clearly well taken care of. I had a great time at zoo with my friends. It wasn’t too crazy expensive and it wasn’t crowded at all. We felt that we got our moneys worth for sure. It would be a great activity for families. I enjoy animals and so all the signs with the animal information was great. I thought some of the animals they had there were really cool.

Nikolas Steele — Google review

This little zoo is fabulous. I was pleasantly surprised at the assortment of animals that this Zoo has. The way it is set up is perfect. On a hot day you are in the shade which was very nice. The landscaping was beautiful. My little family and I totally enjoyed every aspect of the zoo. The grounds were well maintained. If you haven't been, you should go. You won't be disappointed

Charlene Sherry Kay Seres — Google review

This Zoo is extremely affordable and worth the money. You get to see lots of wildlife, even when some animals aren't in the outside enclosures. This was a good use of my afternoon/a few hours, and I'll likely come again

Ruth Evans — Google review

I really enjoyed our experience at the Idaho falls zoo. I took my family of four and we got there early morning on a weekday. It was very beautiful and well put together. They had a wide assortment of different animals and some that are unique to this specific zoo. Our favorite parts were the African safari and the monkey house. The monkeys were extremely fun to watch, they were very active and funny to watch swing around. My only gripe was the fact that it was a field trip day for local schools. The zoo had booths set up where the kids can learn about different things in the ecosystem. The location of these booths could have been better to minimize the impact on the non-school going patrons. Also I felt like a lot of animals were off exhibit during our visit. They did have a small visitor center with a gift shop. But when I say small I mean small.

Brayden Workman — Google review

It is a pretty small zoo. But the price is very cheap and everyone that works there is very friendly. We are from alabama so it was cool seeing the different types of animal they have there that we don’t have at the zoos around us. I would say it’s definitely worth a trip if you have a couple hours you want to burn.

Jaciene Mann — Google review

Such a well kept and friendly zoo! All of the animals seemed like they were getting enrichment and genuinely seemed happy and healthy! The staff were really nice too. We loved the layout as well and how easy it was to navigate and see everything. Also extremely clean and well kept!

Taylor Hall — Google review

This place was a lot bigger than I expected and it was really well kept. Normally zoo's stink but I didn't smell anything until I hit the zebras! Very impressed with their collection of animals, cleanliness and informative signs! First time my daughter got to see any animals and we both had a blast! From seeing our favorite animals (flamingos and donkeys), learning about new animals and feeding goats- it was the perfect way to spend family time! Thank you so much guys!

Heather Sharp — Google review

This zoo is the perfect size. Cost is reasonable. Cart rental(recommended for toddlers ) was $5. I loved that they give you a token to pick which animal you would like the conservation money to go to. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. It’s a great place for a family to spend the day. My kids loved the penguins, primates, and big cats enclosures.

Santinator — Google review

This is the best zoo I have been to based on how happy and healthy the animals are. They have great exhibits and all seemed to be well fed and cared for. A++ will be back yearly.

Hailey Woodworth — Google review

This is a fun zoo to visit. It's amazing what you'll experience when the animals are actually active and playing. Also, there is a peaco*ck that roams free among us, doing its "call of the wild" as it wanders. If you do visit this zoo, I'm posting my pictures if you ever want to go on a scavenger hunt and find the objects in my pictures.

Malachi Goodman — Google review

The zoo itself was nice and shady. Able to walk around, see animals, the Lion and Lioness were pretty cool. The tamarins are my favorite. I will say the zoo is smaller and enclosures are as well. however the kids zoo was cool. The public bathrooms were pretty gross unfortunately.

Sarah R — Google review

We loved the zoo! It was clean and the animals were healthy and energetic. The staff was helpful and friendly. It's the perfect size for a half day. Prices are very affordable.

Harvey Beacham — Google review

We enjoyed Boo at the Zoo Friday evening. It was chaotic, but still fun. I recommend better signage to navigate the crowd, maybe a policy on strollers because that was a nightmare with the lines.

Tara Marie — Google review

I have been to see several zoos across the country. This one was not a favorite. The penguin enclosure has too many animals for the very small enclosure. The pool was extremely mucky and the stench burned our noses. Very strong ammonia smell. They have quite a few animals for this small acreage of zoo, including several large cats. Lions, snow leopards, then smaller cats as well. Bored, Many are pacing in their very small enclosures. The flamingos are also in a small pen and again it smells strongly of ammonia.

Museum

Children's museum

Established in 2003, this museum features exhibits on science & regional history, plus archives.

Went for the last day of the BodyWorlds: Animal Inside Out exhibit. It was way cool. After going through that exhibit, my boyfriend and I walked through the rest of the museum. I enjoyed it. I would definitely go back for future exhibits.

Amazingly detailed exhibits! I attended the Genghis Khan exhibit, and I was very impressed. The infographics contained a lot of information, but they were easy to read as well. The highlight of my visit was the live music exhibit. It was amazing to see the musicians perform with the traditional Mongolian instruments!

Anne Marie Frandsen — Google review

The animal encounters are wonderful and engaging for kids and parents. The current exhibit is rainforest themed and we all enjoyed all the animals. There are a lot of other interesting things to see in addition to the rainforest creatures. We will definitely be back to explore more.

KYLER STOWE — Google review

What a true treat stopping at this museum was. I learned so much about the state of Idaho, from the native American Indian tribes to the farming history to the types of gems that can be found in the state, etc. The stuffed animals on display were fascinating, as were the storefront displays with information about certain items. I could tell that whoever contributed to putting the displays together cared a great deal about what he/she was doing. The native American Indian artifacts were incredible! I enjoyed seeing so much handcrafted materials as well as the artifacts of people who lived on the homesteads in the state in the past. Learning about some of the plants that grow in the area peaked my interest, and there was a great description of the sagebrush that I came across. Everything was intriguing at the Museum of Idaho. It was a trip well worth it, in my opinion and I would go back again. There's quite a bit to see.

Reannah Jones — Google review

Great museum to visit. We must have spent 3 hours here looking around and reading the exhibit signs. The special exhibition was Genghis Khan. There was also history about Idaho, the Wild West and prehistoric animals from around the area. Great museum to visit!

Kristina Hensley — Google review

Lack of wheelchair access to certain areas of the museum, otherwise very decent experience. My 11 year old son had a really good time.

Well what is to say about this museum, it does change so thus review can be a hard one! Currently on 10-18-2021 the exhibit is "Animals Inside out" and I must say it was super cool! I've never had a bad experience or tour of what's been in the museum ever so,I suggest the museum to anyone visiting, passing through, looking to kill time, or even just the joy of museums! They have a great section (large) about Idaho falls, filled with so much information, and the staff is always friendly.

Destinee Speas — Google review

We went to see the Ghengis Khan exhibit, it was excellent! So many peices to see! I was awestruck by the beautiful pieces, the music, it was a trip to the times we know so little about. It was very educational as to the history of the family and what he had accomplished. Definitely recommend!

Gena — Google review

I didn't realize how big this museum was. I was very interested in all they had on displayed. It took me a few hourscto go through. Loved the Dinosaur experience.

Robyn Harrington — Google review

We have been here a few times. This time we were there with a school trip to see the "under the canopy" traveling exhibit. My daughter age 10 & 3 had a lot of fun seeing the different reptiles and the sloth! There is even a small live animal show that happens three times a day, we attended the 11am one and my youngest was super excited to get to pet a snake.

Chalyse Padigimus — Google review

So much to see and learn here! We went while the dinosaur exhibits were going on as well. The curators were easy to approach and helped us navigate because this place is misleadingly huge! We enjoyed the interactive stuff they had and found there was a lot of variety in the exhibits. We walked around for an hour and still didn't have time to see everything!

Taylor Hall — Google review

A really nice museum with different sections.Depends on your pace, checking everything should take about 1-2 hours. There are some nice spots for kids to play and learn.Entrance for non-Idaho residents is $14, a bit expensive in comparison with some other similar museum I visited in US, but it's not terrible.Parking is behind the building and it is quite small, partially shared with church next to the museum, but it's free.

Beautiful scenic river walk. It was nice and breezy. There are electric scooters to rent but just be careful because you don't know how much you are really charged until you're done. Otherwise it is an amazing experience.

Wow!! What an amazing area. It is really something to see. How they have the Snake River spilling over into a variety of waterfalls. Just one of the neatest things I've seen on my travels. Great area to walk, eat, shop or just come to read a book. I even saw someone fishing. Just beautiful. I would say it's a must see.

Beautiful park along Snake River in Idaho Falls not far from the airport with hotels nearby. You can stroll along the river with very beautiful of not only the river but the natural and artificial falls on it. In the background you see the towering The Latter Days Saints Temple (Mormon temple).

Fantastic trail to explore the town, watch the birds, and listen to the sound of raging water. There are several hidden gems along the way such as Friendship Garden. Be sure to check it out on your next trip to Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Park.

Very nice park along Snake River and the water falls, that gave the town its current name. Prior to 1891, the town's name was Eagle Rock.Parking is possible anywhere along the road parallel to the river. The park gives pedestrians the chance to walk a few steps, to look at and to listen to the roar of the water falls. Along the walkway are different benches in interesting and funny shapes. My family and I really enjoyed the visit there.

Dietrich Starkmann — Google review

A lovely place for a walk or run in Idaho Falls. The River a Walk provides just enough of a taste of the outdoors while still having quick access to food trucks, fine dining, bars, and coffee shops in the downtown area. You can stop at one of the many fun artistic benches scattered along the walk as well as the War Memorial or some of the sculptures. It’s also a love place to visit on Saturdays from May through October beginning at 9 am for the local farmers’ market.

Kristin KW — Google review

We went to this place on the weekend morning and it wasn't crowded at all. Parking is easily available along the road. There is also one information center near that.We saw the artificial waterfall and it's beautiful however there was some foam or something floating in the corner.Overall a very nice park with some interesting statues

Dhvanil Patel — Google review

Best place to go for a walk though it does get dangerous at night though so make sure you either have a whistle or your SOS turned on to make sure emergency people and cops are alerted. I ended up meeting a man that got attacked near the green belt. He had cuts and bruises all over his body. It's not dangerous but just watch out for big groups of people or even in 2s or 3s. Stay safe if walking at night in the winter which is right now there is black ice on the side walk and on the walking strip even though Rick salt does get put down it can only do so much. To help. It can help just enough but with how cold it is its kinda useless. But still makes sense if they didn't put it down it probably be worse than what it is as of right now. In the summer it's gorgeous and in the falls it is extremely beautiful with the leaves falling and everything

Laina Thomson — Google review

We love walking the greenbelt! The landscaping is well done, the sidewalks are nice and wide to accommodate all and the river views are always amazing

Bear World is a wildlife park in Rexburg, Idaho, with opportunities to see bears in their natural habitat. The park features a drive-thru facility as well as petting zoo and kid's rides.

It's a neat place, most of the bears here are former actor/performance animals, or descendants of said bears, so they cannot be in the wild. Place offers a few different ways to see them as well. (Drive thru the park in your own vehicle, or use their truck to toss them food, as well as a small petting zoo for the kids.)

Jeremy Statz — Google review

Wow! Was this place cool or what. We went during the middle of the week and experienced great joy. It was not crowded and they allow you to go through unlimited times. We went through roughly eight times watching all of the bears and different animals. To be precise there are buffalo, whitetail deer, albino elk, elk, swan, grizzly bears, black bears, and moose. And that's just for the section of where you're driving. During our visit there were a lot of bears playing around. They also have a little section that you can go to and actually pet some animals. The animals that you're able to pet are goats, dear, different kinds of birds, and pigs. You can also feed bears during the season. They have an amazing little enclosure for Cubs. Overall the experience was incredible. I'm definitely going here again.

Brayden Workman — Google review

I personally like Bear World better than Yellowstone. I love to ride around and see the animals. The bears are so cute, but the cubs are the cutest!!! You can pay to.feed them. You pay right as you arrive and then you can choose to drive your own car or you can pay to ride in their truck and you're also able to.feed the bears. We did that the first time. The gift shop and kid park area are fun too. And then you can also choose to go to the back part and see more animals. You can also feed the ducks and fish. It is guaranteed fun time for everyone!

Tatiana Grant — Google review

Outstanding well kept secret we've told everybody about! 👏 For the most part, the staff is friendly! All around are clean facilities, structures, and habitats for the various animals! All the animals appeared to be well fed and cared for! Feeding the "baby bears" was definitely the highlight of the trip for us! BUT YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE! Very seldom can you show up and expect to feed the bears! The food was decent, and as you would expect, overpriced beyond belief! The "merchandise shop," on the other hand, was reasonably priced and quite affordable!

RedBullKC — Google review

Wow! We went during Cubpalooza last week. The kids loved it and want to go back again. They have amusem*nt rides that are included with admission. The bears were very active and the cubs were 100% adorable.

Scott Woodbury — Google review

The cost of the adventure was $25. It was worth every penny. It is especially wonderful for children I cannot imagine they must think when they see all these wild animals. I bet I saw 50 bears. The gift shop was well staffed and had a great assortment. The workers were delightful. I love the little petting zoo area and the rides. I also want to mention these animals are cared for very well!

Jill Sauls — Google review

Wow. The drive through the park with elk, deer, bison, and bears is fun for the whole family. Lots of photo opportunities with animals everywhere. The main area gift shop was affordable with a nice selection. The dinosaur area had a couple of "rideable" dinosaurs and was a unique experience for kids. Free amusem*nt park rides for the kids were also available with a decent selection and short lines. The petting zoo had deer, goats, birds, and a pig.My family paid for the bear bottle feeding and it was well worth the time and the money. Six bears under a year old who like nooking with their feeders and have large personalities for the tiny size of their bodies were amazing to feed and to pet. As with any babies, they had their opinions and different personalities from messy eaters, to inhalers. Such an incredible experience. Highly recommended.

Alison Wright — Google review

We had a great time driving through to see the bears and other animals. We were honestly surprised how many there were and how close to the car they got. Our hard to please teenagers really enjoyed it as well.

Jaimie Draper — Google review

I've gone a few times in different seasons, but it's still the same. The bathrooms are a mess and super dirty. The staff is pretty rude, and their merchandise barely ever is updated. but it was cool to look around at the cubs and drive through the wildlife. The dinosaur park in it has quite a few dinosaurs with some movement and sounds. We liked the chubby bears 🐻

Valerie Ellis — Google review

At first glance, the price seems really steep being $24 an adult but once you realize just how many animals are actually offered either to see (bison, elk, bears, moose etc.) or to pet at the petting zoo (deer, goats, pigs etc.) I soon understood why! This place was so cool driving in with all of the big bears, elk and bison! Not to mention the adorable petting zoo and amusem*nt park which is also built into the admission price! Also, their fudge in the giftshop? Delicious!!Absolutely worth a visit at least once! My family had a wonderful trip and we will be back! Thanks guys! Very impressed.

Lots of bears and other animals common to Yellowstone National Park. Plenty for kids to do too with a petting zoo, and amusem*nt rides all included with admission. You drive through the elk, bison, and bears. You can renter as much as you like but no stopping and no rolling down your windows. A great place to spend 2-3 hours. Food is available to purchase or bring your own—plenty of picnic tables. Good value!

Ty Lagerberg — Google review

Driving portion to see roaming animals takes about 30 minutes. So a variety of brown bears, black bears, deer, and bison. Entrance to the park also includes entrance to the dinosaur world, small theme park rides, and petting zoo. We spent about 1.5 hrs total in the park, but could have spent double that if your kids are big on doing the rides. Overall a good experience with the family.

Tristan Rodeback — Google review

The new dinosaur area is really fun. My kids liked the Dino rides. 2 of the 5 rides were broken when we visited, so it was a little disappointing. But the rides are nice for a wide range of ages. I wanted to ask why the petting zoo is so sparce on animals but didn't see an employee near there to ask. The info center on the different animals is great. The deer look so thin and mangey. The way the road winds through the park gives visitors plenty of angles to see the animals.

Heidi Leigh — Google review

We attended as a homeschool field trip. The drive through to see the bears was exciting for my girls (10&3). The petting area was fun with little piglets and momma, deer and goats. The girls had fun feeding them and also the fish and ducks in the river. We got there at feeding time and it was so cute to watch the baby bear cubs drinking their bottles. You can pay extra to feed the bear cubs, but we didn't do this. The new dinosaur exhibit was neat with life-sized animatronic dinos to see and even a few of the little coin ride kind. The small carnival rides we did last were fun and the girls left happy for the day out.

Amazing place. Great opportunity to see some majestic wildlife up close! You can take as many laps in your car as you want, that will take you right by bison, dear and a TON of bears. There is also a petting zoo with deer, goats, ducks etc. A few rides for the kids and a dinosaur place under construction for 2024.IF YOU'RE GOING ALL THE WAY OUT HERE -- spoil yourself and cough up the extra $75 to feed the baby bears. You'll remember that for the rest of your life!!!This place actually made my mum-in-law cry out of sheer joy over all the beautiful animals and getting to bottle feed the cubs.

Nate C W — Google review

We went here on a whim because we were headed in this direction and had an extra hour to do something. Was a great way to see the wildlife up close! Bears, white elk, deer, and bison. The bear cubs were playful and fun to watch. The new dinosaur exhibit was much better than I expected for such a remote place. Fun rides here for little kids (6 and under).

Bear World is always a fun place to visit. I went with my husband and four children. We all enjoyed the animals, petting zoo, rides, and especially Jurassic Creek. My 5-year old froze for a minute when he saw the T-Rex and wasn't so sure about it, it looked so real to him. It was fun to see the dinosaurs and learn more about them.

Adrianne Elliott — Google review

It was a great visit. Animals were all around and petting zoo was a hit with the kids. Animals loved the attention from the kids. Rides was in great condition and the new Dinosaur exhibit was brilliant. Loved every minute of it.

Jp Meek — Google review

Super cool experience!!! The drive through, bottle feeding, little roller coaster rides they have, and the dinosaur land are all super cool! Definitely would recommend visiting here if you're nearby!

Spartan rooms & log cabins, plus 2 outdoor hot springs pools, an eatery & complimentary breakfast.

If you want fancy, go somewhere else. But if you want a relaxed, rustic atmosphere with very soothing hot springs, this is your place. The food is also really good. The lodge rooms aren't fancy, and you share a bathroom down the hall. The sound travels up from the dining room/ bar. If this bothers you, get a cabin.

DS A — Google review

My Family and I just had a weekend get away to Elkhorn springs. So at first I was upset about the lodge and bathroom situation, you share bathrooms with other guests in the Lodge. The Lodge also has very thin walls. But once being in the pools, you forget about the those situations. The staff were great people and helpful. My only complaints is you can hear everything in the Lodge, beds we're cramped in rooms and the building can use some upgrades. Remember visiting here have an open mind, it was a great weekend and we're already planning to go back. The kids enjoyed it! The next time we go we're booking a Cabin though. In the lodge the food was amazing, a real home cooked meal. For our first time experiencing a hot spring, it sure was a great get away. Real Rustic feel but with great wifi!

Brittney Stearns — Google review

We had a great time at Elkhorn Hot Springs! The springs were fantastic, the cabin is very rustic but exactly what you'd expect. They are a bit short staffed, so the cabins weren't ready right away and there were limited food options. However, the staff that was there were jumping in to do everything including cleaning, cooking and serving. Service was still quick and everyone was very friendly. Definitely excited to make another trip back.

Bailey Wyman — Google review

We didn't stay at lodge or anything. We just visited the hot springs pool area. The place was dark and damp inside, used towels all over the place, laundry right by the entry and was very messy. I knocked two stars off for that reason. The bathrooms were okay but no place to change that wasn't out in the open and little kids were going in and out. There's no privacy for changing which is a bummer. I had to change in my car which sucked. The pool was nice and hot and felt great though. I'm not sure if we'd go back... It's fun but there are other hot springs that are closer and nicer. We stayed about half hour before leaving because there were people drinking their beer in the pool and we have a kid that doesn't need to be around that.

This is the first review I have ever left for a company in my life, so let that speak for itself. I rented a cabin that was labeled as one of their two "modern" cabins. I have lived a rugged and rustic life but wanted a nice option for the weekend I proposed to my fiance. Instead, we checked in after already paying over twice what a nice hotel room would cost. We then went to our cabin to find a cabin that had not been cleaned, dirty sheets, and had none of the amenities listed on the website. I then went to the check in lady, who was really nice, and said their website was garbage and that I should have called instead because they booked me for the wrong cabin. I was then told that if I wanted the "modern" cabin I had already booked, it would cost me an extra $100 a night. I now spent about $300 a night. We were also told that, since they messed up the booking, our cabin wouldn't be clean either. So we get to the cabin to find someone else's underwear on the floor and dirty sheets and a couch that looked like it would give you the black plague. There was a cold water faucet which didn't work and instead there was only very hot water. We were also told to absolutely not drink the water and instead they sell individual water bottles. I could go on and on but it just got worse from here. DO NOT spend your money here until they actually take the money and put it into the business you pay for.

Crippled Calibers — Google review

The Hot Springs themselves were AMAZING. The food at the Lodge in the other hand was not so much. Basically tasted like frozen food heat up.Also, the fryer was "broken" so they said basically we can make burgers and pizza.Kind of a bummer because I love me some french fries! The best thing we ate was actually the side salad that was in lew of the fries.

Wood — Google review

Pros: the lodge has amazing food! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The pools were perfect. Very relaxing and down-to-earth environment. Quiet and very scenic. Pet friendly too, which is always a plus. The cabins are exactly what we hoped for - rustic!Cons: accessibility is a huge issue. I have a Jeep Compass and was not able to make it up the road to the lodge (the only road in). It had been plowed, but not sanded. A few people got stuck on the road and one guy even slid into the ditch. The only other gripe that I have was the bed...the mattress was horrible. It was a single mattress on a metal frame which didn't fit the mattress so it slipped down to the floor when we laid down. Two of us couldn't sleep on the mattress so my boyfriend slept on the couch which was equally uncomfortable. Beds definitely need to be upgraded! All in all, it was a fun stay and we will stay again but probably in the summer.

Dee Brewster — Google review

The rates in the lodge doubled and you can hear everything, even if your talking normally. Air blows in windows one bathroom for nine rooms and the bar bathroom was out of order so the bar restaurant patrons had to use it too.The cabins should have gone up and the food, but in lodge room rates are NOT worth that.Food great, nice workers no complaints on that.

Brianna Wilson — Google review

The most wonderful rustic hot spring destination. People who have never camped or used a pit toilet before will have their horizons expanded. Cabins have electricity and heat but most have no running water or ensuite bathrooms (the showers in the hot spring locker rooms are really all you need). Have never stayed in lodge rooms so can't speak to them. There is a small restaurant with a tasty, if limited, menu; if you have special dietary needs, you may be eating your food that I would hope you _always_ bring with you when you travel _anywhere_.

Carol Chappell — Google review

A fun experience to check off your list if looking for a quick weekend adventure. Staff was warm and welcoming. Two pools: larger pool was like a luke warm bath, smaller pool was hot and enjoyable. Food was good, limited selection of drinks.Lodge accommodations above the restaurant were very affordable, but you could hear everyone in the building (including the guy snoring next door 🤭) - so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Quiet hours 10pm - 6 am help with the noise level. One shared bathroom upstairs. Bring an extra pillow and maybe an extra blanket, only 2 pillows per room.

Damara King — Google review

We arrived early not realizing the website hours had not been updated to reflect later opening time, but we were very grateful they let us in anyway! The water itself was very clean but the surrounding area was littered with beer cans, a dirty diaper, etc. And the locker room floors were not clean even though the cleaning lady was leaving as we arrived. But the surrounding area was beautiful and we enjoyed our soak. We will be back.

Shannon Scheffel — Google review

Not for any city slicker but if you want a true Montana rugged and traditional get away this place is it! One thing tho because your so far out the foot is made and grown locally so the food was beyond delicious

Jared Huff — Google review

I like these hotsprings, but it isn't more than 3 stars. It needs cleaned more often. I've been coming here for many years, and it's never changed how clean it is. It feels great, and the price is reasonable!

Mandy Cunningham — Google review

Love this place, not a 5 star hotel and hot spring, but was perfect for us. Enjoy that it is rustic and love the new heaters in the cabin (since the last time I was there) beds were clean and comfortable, and the fridge was a nice extra. Lodge Restaurant was a little disappointing, but service was great and everyone there was very helpful!! Defiantly a great place if you want to get away and don't expect your experience to be 5 Star Fancy!

Sandra McCann — Google review

We have stayed numerous times here. With that being said I am so disappointed in the service at our last stay. We rented a cabin for a night with plans to soak and have a nice dinner. When we got checked in our cabin was not cleaned. The service help came in and "made the bed" never ONCE saying that it was broken. We went to dinner ordering the prime rib smaller portion where we waited 20 min before they came out and said they did not have the smaller one available. We paid 45.00 each for the bigger prime to be served literally cold. When we finally went to bed and realized it was so broken that it was impossible to sleep in, it was too late to contact anyone as they were not available. The next morning when we went to breakfast I let the front desk lady know. Her comment, and I quote! "Yeah they told me last night about that. " However no one not only said anything to us no one came to fix it either!!! The "cabin" was the backside of another and literally had holes in the wall where you could see into the other cabin attached. We waited 70min for our breakfast after ordering. Total visit was over 300.00 for the worst experience ever. I emailed them upon arriving home in hopes to get a response ans as of today, 3 weeks later have not even received any acknowledgment. We have been going to elkhorn for years and our next visit will be down the road! Worst experience ever!!!

Wendy Hagen — Google review

Rustic perfection. 1st time here and can't wait to make this place a tradition for our anniversary. The timing is perfect bc it's slow season so it's not crowded. Had the pool to ourselves for a solid hour after we checked in last night. Enjoyed the free breakfast and dipped in one last time before departure. Friendly staff. Great service. Thank you Elkhorn!!

K C — Google review

The pools were awesome to soak in and the perfect temperatures! However, don’t waste your time trying to eat at the restaurant. They took our order fairly promptly and brought us our drinks (which were very flat and gross). Then we waited almost 40 minutes to get our appetizer and another 20 for the main meals to come out. The food was so over cooked we couldn’t even choke down 1/4 of it… so disappointing!

Emily Miller — Google review

Elkhorn Hot Springs is in an amazing location and we love the hot springs. We've stayed there 3 other times and although the cabins are rustic they have always been clean and rodent free. This last time, the prices increased considerable for the night and it was the worst night of sleep in my life. There was a rodent couple staying in the ceiling above us and below my children in the loft who made noises all night long And the smell in the cabin was definitely of animal. Was disgusted and exhausted the next day. Have written to the manager but have heard no response. Very disappointed. My husband vowed that it was the last time we'll stay at Elkhorn Horn Hot Springs.

Nancy Rendl — Google review

The cabins are bare minimum l. The beds are terrible. I didn't sleep 1 minute. The breakfast was disgusting. My friends dog wouldn't even eat it. Place is falling apart. Needs a lot of TLC.

This is my go-to place when I want to be more in touch with God and some of his wonderful creations! It is scenic, serene, the people whom work there are friendly and knowledgeable. Other visitors are nice and respectful. As a photographer, there is so much there. Nice walks, hikes, great scenery, and wildlife. Birds galore, deer, Bears. Great place for a family outing as well. Gonupntonthe visitor center of a walk to the river. If you are a birder, there are bird blinds all over. From Hummerbirds to Eagles, Ospreys, Hawks, Owls, Warblers, and so much more. Coyotes, Foxes, and even badgers. Look for Sanhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons, Pheasant and more. Beautiful sunrise and Sunset shots as well. Go to the big ponds and look at the numerous different waterfowl and then look up to the Heron rookery hi up in the ponds. A fantastic wonderland

Great walk and a great spot to see some wildlife always friendly faces on the trails. It's good for kids or even older folks easy walk lots to see

Michael Barreca — Google review

Meh, the trail was ok, but a lot of the part was closed to public access. The trail from the visitor center is an out and back. Nice views with ducks, no shade which is great for a spring hike, but wouldn’t do during summer.

This was the third time visiting the Lee Metcalf area and it was wonderful. I went to the visitor's center for the first time and received great info about the trails and types of birds I could expect to see. Fortunate to see Trumpeter swans, a Blue Heron, Osprey, and a variety of ducks. Great trail system and many areas to explore! I highly recommend planning for at least a couple of hours to explore this incredible area.

I used to live in the Bitterroot Valley and so have driven down the old East Side Highway many times during my visits back home to my old home in Hamilton, but I had never driven into the Lee Metcalf Refuge. I was stunned at how beautiful it was. There had been a little snow on the mountains in late September and the air was crisp and clear. Many beautiful views even from your car. I would strongly encourage a visit if you are in the area.

Sam Smith — Google review

Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge has a visitor center, an accessible trail with benches, wildlife viewing trails, and many opportunities for birdwatching and photography in the grasslands, wetlands, and riparian forests of the Bitterroot Valley.Accessibility info and site description: At the visitor center parking lot, there is a large accessible porta-potty and two disabled parking spaces that are not marked for van accessibility. Follow the sidewalk to the left of the visitor center to find a kiosk with brochures, a beautiful view of the Bitterroot Mountains, a covered picnic area off the trail through the grass, and an outdoor amphitheater. To find Kenai Trail, continue on the path and cross the bridge. Kenai Trail is paved, three feet wide, and in mostly good shape. It is an estimated .3 mile loop with five backless benches, and goes through the grasslands. About two miles down the road from the visitor center and Kenai Trail is the Wildlife Viewing Area trails, which go through the riparian forests. Unfortunately there is extensive damage to the pavement at the entrance, which has made the disabled parking unusable and the entrance to the trails no longer wheelchair accessible. The left side of the entrance is passable, but note that it is rocky, uneven, and unstable. Once past this section, there are restrooms, an entrance sign with a map, and a covered viewing area with benches overlooking the creek. A wide paved .5 mile path leads to the Bitterroot River, and there are several trail offshoots from this main path. The Slough Trail is a .4 mile partially paved trail on the left, the Ponderosa trail is a .9 mile looped dirt trail near the entrance sign, and the .4 mile Cottonwood Trail on the right was flooded at the time of my visit. Note: there are no benches along these paths. Other areas of interest at the Refuge include the Grube Barn and the Whaley Homestead.Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge offers stunning, unobstructed views of the Bitterroot Mountains with an added bonus of wildlife viewing. It's usually very quiet and has great opportunities for photography and birdwatching. The best part is that there are trails for all ability levels. I always look forward to my visits here!

Black sand traps play so well! Maybe that says something about how I play. 🤔The roll in the fairway is outstanding just watch out, will go left and right.Greens roll fast.Plenty of elevated shots, slopes and drops.I absolutely love the practice facilities.3 practice goes to boot! This course won't disappoint.

What an incredible course...and experience! Played this course on Wednesday September 14 along my route to Ohio...my 191st course in a little over 3 years. The setting is so unique...a Superfund site made stunningly beautiful. The contrast of the immaculate greens and fairways with the black slag bunkers and waste areas...embraced by the surrounding hills make this course an amazing visual treat to play! Great layout with very large landing areas for your drive, with accuracy required closer to the green - the Nicklaus signature design. So much fun to play! Carts were very clean and well cared for.Beautiful clubhouse with interesting interpretive panels detail the unique construction of the course. Orderly, well-stocked pro shop. The recently remodeled Jack's restaurant/bar is very clean and beautifully done, and the food (I ordered a Club) is delicious! The staff at Old Works is awesome. The course pro Andrew was very personable, kind and accommodating, as was Paeton in the restaurant.I'll definitely be back!

Very unique course from the setting(old copper mine) to the black sand. Challenging from the back tees, a typical Nicklaus design. Some forced carries, more left to right shots, and large greens. Very good course for the $. Food was decent and pro shop is standard. Worth doing.

Have played this course over the 4th of July holiday for the last few years. The overall course condition/maintenance has steadily declined over the last few years, the clubhouse however has improved dramatically. The staff is always friendly and fun from the Pro Shop, the wait staff, and cart attendants.. always fun, just wish the course conditions (fairway grass, greens)would improve

Great golf course in Anaconda. Bit out of the way but worth veering off the interstate for. Historic site of an old smelter with lots of cool walls and features built right into the course design. Amazing black bunkers and course is fun the play. Can be windy in the valley at times so be prepared.

Absolutely amazing course. Difficult at times but the old structures and history make it almost like a museum inside a golf course. There's water, elevated shots and the furthest tees are over 7200 yards. Also affordable for the evening rate with a cart. Loved this place

Museums

The World Museum of Mining in Butte offers a glimpse into the city's extensive mining history. Visitors can explore a recreated 1890s mining town, take mine tours, and discover exhibits on mining tools. The museum is an excellent place to learn about the copper mining industry that once thrived in Butte. In addition to the Mineral Museum and Trolley Tour of Uptown Butte, visitors interested in local history should consider adding this attraction to their itinerary.

This is another must-do adventure if you’re in the Butte area! It is a very well put together museum and has exhibits of what a mining town would have looked like back in the 1800s plus actual copper and silver mining artifacts and platforms. There are a lot of exhibits to see covering a large outside area. There is also an actual old mine that you can tour, but that does require a separate ticket and is usually booked-up several days in advance, so it’s best to reserve your spot online. The mine tour takes you down about 100 feet into the mine, and is an exceptional experience and learning adventure. It is great for kids also, but not small children. It also is a fairly steep decline into the mine, and is pitch dark. They do provide you with helmets that have attached lights on them, but this was a fully working mine and is currently used to train mining students at Montana Tech. While they do everything to keep you safe, there are a lot of obstacles, and you have to be focused and have your wits about you. I would not recommend the mine tour if you’re claustrophobic or have other health ailments. It is also about 45° once you get down to 100 feet. But there is still plenty to do and see even if you don’t do don’t mine tour. They also have a lot of events going on during the summer, so check their website. The museum is also getting ready to start their haunted mine tours, so look for events and details on their website.

Greg Houston — Google review

We passed through Butte twice on our way to Glacier National Park and coming back which was lucky for us as the mining tour is limited in numbers so we needed to book 4 days in advance. This tour is a gem, it is very authentic and down below earth and our guide Ken was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour inspired us to explore more and we visited The Archives Museum in The Historical District where again the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were delighted we spent some time in Butte.

John Devitt — Google review

I love this museum. This was my second time visiting and I loved getting to share it with my family. This is a great stop for kids with so much to look at, interact with, and just the immense amount of space it takes up. It takes a little over an hour (and thats with speed reading signs!). I have never done the actually underground tour but it's on my to do list now.

Victoria Poisel — Google review

This is Avery nice history of mining in Butte. The pictures and donated memorabilia really helps show what life was like in a mining town. The town mock-up is fantastic at showing period prices showing invitation of the times. From dentistry to banking and everything in between. There is an actual mine tour, I would suggest calling ahead to get your times before you go. It was well worth the entry fee.

Michael — Google review

Great, knowledgeable guide who made the tour fun and quite interesting. Loved going down into the depths of the earth to experience what it was like to have be there. And the museum was set up very nicely with a great array of items and implements of how it was back then.

Very interesting, tons of history, lots to look at. Would've loved to do the underground tour but our kiddos were too small (we will have to come back!)Our 2yo and 4yo were kinda bored so I don't think I recommend this in general for their ages unless the museum were to open up a little kiddos hands on learning exhibit. But we loved walking thru the town and the seeing all of the old equipment. Definitely don't miss this stop in Butte!

A Nelson (DZ Dog Mom) — Google review

This was a fun place to go. There is an old time mining town to wander through. Kid friendly. There is an underground mining tour that is a lot of fun but I, personally, wouldn't take young children on it because of the steep grades and darkness of being underground. The only light is from the light on the hard hat everyone is wearing. At one point the light is turned off. This is a an excellent experience to see the reality of an old time mining town and experience a mine.

Located on the far side of Montana Tech University, the World Museum of Mining is, hand’s down, a terrific place to learn about life in an 1800s mining town. The museum has brought in period buildings from all over, added local period pieces (whether saloon, apothecary, undertaker, and any of the dozens of other establishments) to make the town seem seamless. Most of the buildings had a QR code provided for obtaining additional information.Even before leaving the museum store where you buy tickets to either the above ground and/or below ground experience, you will learn much about mining in Montana. There also are a couple special exhibit rooms which were mostly from private collections (one being dolls and doll houses mostly related to early Montana life; the other minerals and rocks). The underground mine tour was led by Michael. He is well versed in the mining history of the area and was fully engaged in sharing what he knew. There is SO much to see. My photos are only a small portion of our time there. Plan to spend at least three hours (1.5 on the underground, and the same walking the property). For your convenience and comfort, there is a perfectly modern restroom facility.

Sue Martindale — Google review

This museum was awesome. We took the Underground tour and it was fantastic! Rick was so knowledgeable and he really wanted us all to have an enjoyable time. I learned so much!! Some remarkable people are restoring this wonderful piece of history! Great job staff and donors. You can be proud of this gem!!

Highly recommend taking a tour of the mine! Very knowledgeable couple of guys. One worked as a miner in the 70s, and the other worked at a mine as well. They both had plenty of stories ranging from their own, to the stories of their fathers/grandfathers...What a cool little place. They did a great job of painting the scene of old school mining. Awesome, and tragic history

Dylan Robles — Google review

Great informative mine tours. Staff was very knowledgeable about the machinery in the mines, as well as their geology. I would definitely recommend getting your tickets for the tour at least a day ahead, as there are limited spots available. In addition, wearing a light sweatshirt is a good idea, because temperatures in the mine are about 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Wear close-toed walking shoes (it gets muddy). Amazing experience for families!

Anne Marie Frandsen — Google review

Loved this place and stayed longer than I had planned because there is a lot to see! Entrance fee with the mine tour was just over 20 dollars. Recommend booking the tour ahead of time online. The tour of the mine was great! Been in many caves, but not a mine. There are no stairs, but it is sloped for the entire tour. You go down 100 feet while wearing hard hats with lights. Really cool experience. There is a little recreated town to walk through and it's interesting learning about the late 1800s to 1950s time-frame of a mining town. Recommend this place! And leave plenty of time so you're not rushed.

Natalie Koffarnus — Google review

This site is loaded with historical eye candy of all kinds. From the Mining operations to the reconstructed town site it was a fully immersive experience. Our tour guide Troy gave us a tour that made the experience of the miners and this unique Butte American community come alive for us. My perspective on this important and often overlooked part of our history was enhanced and I honestly got teary eyed with pride thinking about how hard those men worked to do such a dangerous yet essential job. Hands down one of the best Montana tourist attractions and that is saying something! Thank you Troy!!!

This former copper-mine viewing point overlooks the huge open pit, now flooded with water.

Way bigger than we expected! You can see the waste water plant from the viewing stand, there's a lot of interesting informational signage, and we heard these echoing monitoring stations, not sure what they were for, but I intend to find out. Pretty cheap entry too.

Zzozzez — Google review

Arrived but was unable to get in. Google maps said it was open. Sign on the door said they should be open according to hours posted. Obviously hasn't been open for a while from the notes of the people showing up and also being disappointed to find them closed. The management should probably update their signs on the building to reflect the actual hours open.

So interesting ! Our tour guide was retired history teacher. It doesn't get any better than that!

Tracy Barraza — Google review

Have been here a few times. Always interesting to see. I think the informational displays at the viewing area are due to be updated and modernized. Difficult to read through the messy glass, and the info is quite dated. It also can get extremely windy in the viewing area, FYI

Trish L. — Google review

This thing is awesome! The platform allows you to take a look at the entire pit easily. The fee was fairly cheap and there were a few informative panels that tell all about the origins of the Berkeley Pit.

Anne Marie Frandsen — Google review

A small viewing deck to watch the huge pit. It’s a self-guided tour but you will get enough information about its history.

A great place to stop and take in the views! So much rich history and it is amazing to learn facts about the operation that made Butte the richest hill on earth!

Mining for sapphires is so much fun. we got a few that were larger than 2 carats, We need to send them in to have them heat treated. I highly recommend either going to the mine or buying a box from them to go through!

Friendly easy to work with. Skilled. Knowledgeable. Always a good time.We go every year. Around 15 years.

The mining itself was incredible. Something that I will always remember. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The store was also nice-kept and dog friendly.

Kaylee Tremblay — Google review

I have been coming here for 5 years and have never been treated so poorly. At 3pm I was put on a waiting list to have the stones looked at, at 5 pm they close and would not look at my stones. We were only here for 1 night. I'm stuck with stones, $45 of nothing. It's not worth your $45. Avoid doing business here

I love going in to Gem Mountain! Staff are friendly and helpful, sifting the gravel to find little treasures is relaxing. Leaving with those treasures feels therapeutic. Definitely recommend

Shandee Votaw — Google review

Had so much fun, Travis was incredibly helpful and has such a great sense of humor!! Thank you for the recommendation of the scenic drive, my husband and I had the best adventure today. Gem Mountain is a must visit!!

Sarah Leithold — Google review

We bought two buckets of gravel for $40 each to sort through and found several cuttable stones. Our second bucket had an unusually high amount of sapphires, so be aware that your mileage may vary. They charge reasonable prices and make it straightforward to find sapphires. It was absolutely thrilling to find gemstones. The gravel was raw, muddy, and brown at first, not loaded with polished stones like some tourist destinations do to make people feel special. The way the gravel is sorted by the attendants pushes almost all of the sapphires to the top of the gravel pile when the sieve is flipped onto the table. This makes for a great experience, because multiple sapphires are usually visible before starting the longer part of the hunt.If you'd like your sapphires/garnets cut, they are currently experiencing a one year wait because of how many customers get in line.

Visited this store very much by accident and very happy about that. Rock and Gem stores are by far my favourite and Gem Mountain did not disappoint. Prices were about par, but they have a great selection of unique items.

Talk about addictive. Digging through dirt @ our age is just good clean fun. We ordered some of ya'lls buckets of dirt and we are on a steep learning curve before our actual arrival in the Big Sky.. Sitting on the Mexican Border sifting thru all this rock is nothing short of just a blast! Still have a few lbs to go through but I'm pretty sure we will order more before we get there. I guess it's kinda like gambling @ a casino without the second hand smoke! Just the luck of the draw..Plotted. Oumuamua. Beep.

Candy store

Shopping

The Sweet Palace in Philipsburg is a candy emporium that boasts an extensive selection of over 1,000 different kinds of treats, including hard-to-find candies from the past. In addition to individually wrapped and hard candies, the store offers fresh handmade sweets such as fudge, taffy, caramels, and chocolates. There's even a selection of sugar-free candies available.

Very fun! Most items are priced by the pound, mix and match. Clean. Lots of sugar free options, homemade goodies, and every flavor of jelly bean and taffy imaginable.

Crystal Bagwell — Google review

Always a wonderful experience to see all the different offerings. The old fashioned decor and decorations make the display of the candies even more special. Definitely worth the trip...your mouth will love it.

Gail Pliley — Google review

This place is sweet tooth heavenly experience. I thought I was going to pass out from a sugar rush coma. This place was so amazing and I love that alot of the chocolates, taffy and fudge are home made. It's so great cause you buy by the pound and you can mix and match candy. Note to people with nut allergies I would not recommend the chocolate in cases or fudge do to cross contamination. Thanks to Lexi who warned me or i would have had a real emergency. But all there are a ton of other candies around for you to try. I love the taffy, bubble gum and other assorted treats. They also had alot of stuff animals which I ended with a cute little red octopus. Sugar-free candy is available.

Ari GB — Google review

This is one of the very last 18th century candy stores. Such a fun place to visit. Our kids were amazed at the variety. They have an old soda dispenser machine as well. There are old candies I have not see since I was a kid. The entire downtown was a neat experience.

Jason Walker — Google review

They have every kind of candy you want, even some when we were kids I've not seen in years. You got to go here. Candy, candy, candy.

The staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful. I always buy a bag of the saltwater taffy and a block of fudge when I'm here! The grizzly paws are pretty spectacular too!

This place really had that old school candy store vibe. They have a huge selection of taffy, chocolate, truffles, jelly beans and more!Oh, and fudge!

Kylan Johnson — Google review

I was there on the 18th of October. Shirley specializes in making all kinds of chocolate treats including a variety of Fudge. I'm going back to get some more soon. She has nostalgia candies often forgotten when we become adults.

David B. Hunter — Google review

This candy shop has everything. It takes you back to the days when Penny Candy was a thing. Obviously, the candy is a little more expensive now, but I loved the old timey feel. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable about the candy in the store. It's paid by the pound minus the chocolate, so you can mix it all up if you want. The chocolate is yummy, and the staff member who works the case answers any questions you have. It's a great place to take the kids to show them how life used to be or as an adult to reminisce how life once was.

Jana Pahler — Google review

Great nostalgic feel in this candy land shop. I recommend a first pass through the shop without picking anything out as you can end up with WAY too much candy when you get to the end. The homemade chocolates had great flavor, but I wish there were two sizes to the nut clusters as they are huge. It would also be nice to have some smaller bags for the jelly beans as there are 70+ varieties and I prefer to keep the sweet ones separate from the salty ones for flavor mixing.Tons of variety and nice staff make this a great shopping stop.

J Cunningham — Google review

Oh. My. Goodness! Soooo much Candy. It’s easy to spend $100 as a fam just filling up the bags with a couple of everything you could ever want. From chocolate to sours and everything in between. There’s also a huge variety of sugar free candies/chocolates. The store is very clean and checkout is smooth. Nothing beats the vintage aesthetic. They even have a Penny machine! Definitely recommend to everyone.

Madeline Wyatt — Google review

We love our annual visit to The Sweet Palace! Before we even arrive, my husband is making a list of all the candies he plans to add to his bag! Not only do they have almost every kind of hard candy and homemade toffee flavors to choose from, their chocolates and fudge selections are out of this world!

Tawnya Becker — Google review

Beautiful shop with huge variety of candies.🍬🍭🍫🍥 My fiance and I came here today from Anaconda and enjoyed the time we spent in there looking around and filling up a couple bags of candy. A Carousel for Missoula is a beloved local attraction that features a hand-crafted carousel and hosts frequent community events. Additionally, the site boasts an outdoor playground called Dragons Hollow, which is perfect for families with children. Despite recent concerns about mask-wearing for kids, many visitors still enjoy the facility's open-air environment amidst the heat. Overall, A Carousel for Missoula offers a unique and magical experience on the edge of Clark Fork River that appeals to all ages.

Very cool space on the edge of the Clark Fork River. Just went to check it out as a volunteer army hand-carved the beautiful horses and dragons. Great place to take kids with a cool playground outside called the Dragon’s Hollow.

Super fun experience for me and the kids. So much fun and laughter. Staff is friendly and nice. Not a long wait and the carousel goes fast. I loved it!!!

shellyn dugar — Google review

Just plain fun, take your kids there, $1 a ride for kids $2 for the big kids

Mike Nielsen — Google review

It was so much fun! The carousel went pretty fast. My two daughters and I pulled plastic rings from a dragons nose as we were going around. It was challenging to grab a ring but we got all of them. The last ring is brass and whoever gets it, gets a free ride! I'm in my late 60's and felt like a kid again, riding a horse on a carousel. We laughed so much and rode the carousel a couple of times. The elderly (older than I) gentleman that was in charge, told us that a 97 year old woman got on a horse last month. She holds the record. It's for all ages and you are never too old to ride a carousel. Cute little gift shop. Friendly and fun staff there. A great experience and a must do if you are visiting Missoula, Montana.

Probably the best carousel in the Northwest! It's as much fun for my kids as it is for my adult friends I've brought for a visit! Highly recommend stopping by. Tip: grab an outside animal so you can try and grab the golden ring ;)

This place was built when I was growing up.Saturday farmers market happens outside until 1pm. Right next to it is the park where events are happening all the time. Though many locals have been shoved out of the area, this place holds personal history and care.

Brandon Bryant (BACKAVAR) — Google review

Some neat history and a fun carousel; well run.

John Fitzgerald — Google review

Not only is this the best carousel experience for kids, but adults have fun too, with the brass ring game. And the employees are genuinely all amazing. Every time we go, which seems to be weekly, we meet someone new who makes the ride that much more enjoyable.

Steve Miller — Google review

Great carousel with always friendly and helpful staff. Make the experience fun for people of all ages. Also the Dragon rings really give it it's own unique twist to a carousel that will have your kids wanting to ride over and over. Also prices are very reasonable and the playground next door is awesome!

Josh Demers — Google review

Just had my daughter Quinn's 11th Birthday party here, and it was great. For a small price we could invite up to 12 people to ride the Carousel for free and use of a party room for an hour and 15 minutes. Would definitely hold a party here again. My daughter has always loved the Carousel, her favorite horse is Paint.

Great place to take the Kids or hold a kid's party. It endless fun and the staff are extremely kind, patient and compassionate about helping the kids on and off the horses and with seatbelts. The gift shop is stocked with affordable little kid's snacks. There is a wonderful park attached to the location.

We come here for our daughter’s birthday every year and it’s magical. This year we came on a Saturday and even though it was busy, we still barely had to wait to get on. The attendant saw our daughter’s pretty dress and asked if it was her birthday. Then he announced her by name over the intercom and had everyone tell her happy birthday. People even came up to her later and gave her their unused tokens so she could ride over and over. It was the highlight of her entire birthday week, and ours too. We found out later the man’s name is Jeff, and we’d like to thank him especially for making our daughter’s special day so incredible!

Kerstin McLean — Google review

A neat place to visit (even though I didn't ride). It's a very inviting place, friendly, knowledgeable staff and has history on a gigantic stone slab out front.Pricing seemed to be spot on with the area, and was seemingly not busy when we went midday. Overall a nice stop during our walk. Might even ride if I come back another time.

Kinda bummed the playground was closed.. very surprised they were pushing masks on children.. If they are going to do such a thing.. they should practice cleaning the facility instead... it's OUTSIDE anyways.. in heat.. it's kinda ridiculous.. kids had fun, but mine weren't going to put a mask on... but A child is telling me I needed to wear one?? It kinda ruins the experience...

We stopped here on our road trip and it has been one of my kids favorite places. The cars were really cool and there were a lot of them. After we toured the cars we went to the prison and my teenagers absolutely loved it. You get to wonder around throughout the whole thing without being bothered. It made it so we didn't have any pressure and could play stupid games. The staff was great and the town is fun too, if you are thinking about stopping it is worth it.

Marshall Zoerner — Google review

So much to see here. You could spend a full day between the two attractions. The auto museum has way more vehicles than I could have ever imagined to find in this small town. Really pleasantly surprised!Looks like there was some recent damage to the ceiling and some of the cars had obvious water marks from the damaged ceiling.Still though, it didn't take much away from the experience. The prison was really cool, Tons to see and explore. It's laid out really well and in great shape.

Brian Munoz — Google review

What a fantastic museum! We were passing through, and arrived kind of late, but were delighted to learn that our admission is good for up to a year, so we can come back and finish the rest, so long as we keep our receipt! Was mostly excited about the prison portion (which was great) but was so pleasantly surprised by the auto museum. You really do need to spend at least half a day here, but with their extended admission, this works great. Can't wait to return to attend the other attractions we didn't get to see this time (Yesterday's Playthings, Frontier Montana, etc.). Also, we were eligible for a discount, which was so greatly appreciated. Can't wait to come back!

Stephanie Blake — Google review

The auto museum was absolutely amazing. Beautiful cars from early 1900s to current. There are many rare cars to see. 100's of beautiful restored cars. Highly recommend this auto museum. The prison museum was very interesting to see. On display is barbaric old dental and medical tools they used back in the day. Very crazy to see how they handled prisoners so many years ago. This is a very eerie place.

Jill Bowman — Google review

Looks like a super cool place with lots of things to do. It was closed when we got there.(January 2022) It seems to be a good thing to do in a town where "there is nothing to do" we stopped on a road trip and were sad that it was not open. Sign said their season begins Feb 4th.We still walked around the building and enjoyed the architecture they've added. There seems to be some kind of fair ground right next to it too. It's probably where they hold city events.Parking was very very unclear. We might have parked in a field, I have no idea.Overall, I'd love to visit again when it is open if we are ever going through town.

Sara Smith — Google review

The automotive museum is very good. A great collection of cars from every era. Many of them are fairly rare to see. The collection is much larger than I expected. If you are a car person, you should plan your trip through this area to allow you to stop, you will be glad you didThe prison is eye opening. If you have never been in one, you should see it here where they let you leave. You do not want your first tour to be a permanent one haha.

hypur padre — Google review

This is a must see. So many cars and the self guided digital audio tour is great for the prison. Plan on spending at least 3 hours here.Bonus keep your receipt and you can come back for another visit within a year for free.Visit the antique shop across the road. It’s the home of the warden and a super cute shop. The inmate hobby store across the street is also amazing.

We used to ask Grandma if she went to college. She said she graduated from MSP, a private girls school out west. Little did we know her alma mater was the Montana State Penitentiary in Deer Lodge. What an amazing place. The car museum goes on and on with a collection of cars that has to be valued in the millions. The old prison grounds are interesting and the buildings are spooky yet give a real sense of what it must have been like inside. The self guided tour had plenty of info and stops with unbelievable and very interesting facts. Bring the family and check it out. As for grandma, she wouldn’t get out of the van while the family saw the sites. She said she wasn’t going back behind those walls. Unreal. Anyway, check it out. Btw, I bet many came to know Jesus in the little chapel there. Pretty cool and Jesus does save. From behind bars to eternity, I can’t imagine!

This place is a really cool stop you might otherwise overlook. It has an old prison, hundreds of amazing cars from the 1900s-1970s, and an old toy museum. You gain access to all of this with one admission ticket sold at the prison gift shop, which is good for a 2nd visit within one year. The prison is cool to walk around, and the ghost/paranormal crowd seems to especially dig it. The car museum is amazing, there are so many old, expensive and rare cars in there! I really liked the toy museum, make sure to check out the miniture train exhibit. The caretaker was very kind and sweet.

Jamez — Google review

Love this place. Never thought I'd say that about a prison. But there is so much history here and I went with my husband a few years ago and again just a few weeks ago. I love that we can go into the different cells and offices and see what it was like.

Mynameis NoOne — Google review

This was a fun experience. This prison is old, not maintained, and pretty cool. They offer military discount on admissions tickets. The tickets get you into all the museums. There is a car museum, old vintage logging, mining museum, WW2, old toys, hobby craft, art and pen museum. There are also some old trains to see, a pinic area, old jail, blacksmith shack, log cabin, schoolhouse, carriage house and antique stores.

A Plus — Google review

It's a very educational place for everyone especially the Montanians. This is where you will learn about the prison history and the prisoner's life. It's worth to see. I've been there on Halloween month. The staff decorated the place in a spooky way! I was so scared! They did a great job!

Wonderful museum complex just off the highway in Deer Lodge. We were just passing through on the way to Glacier NP and had a little time on our hands. The prison is large and clearly laid out. The displays are very interesting. The attached car museum is wonderful. My husband and I found both our first cars in there. It was quite a fun afternoon. The ticket price includes a second visit, which we plan on using next week to visit the museums across the street of toys and WWII vehicles.

Tina Hawley — Google review

Amazing value! Your ticket to this museum also gets you entry to several others and one revisit for up to a year. The gift shop is very nice, reasonably prices. The staff are friendly, and the tour was excellent. We will definitely take advantage of that revisit! Considering the value you get, the 18.00 adult admission is a real bargain :-).

Eva Landry — Google review

Broken Wings Paranormal (found on YouTube) did an overnight investigation from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. We have investigated other prisons and we are very impressed with how clean this prison is. We loved how easily accessible the building's are, and the fact they're far enough away from each other that we had no issues with interference of sounds from the other buildings or outside. It was sad we weren't able to go into the theater. Hopefully, the investigation fees will help more funds go to supporting the renovation of that building. We would love to come back, especially after the incredible paranormal evidence we captured here. We highly recommend this location for other groups, and even individuals who want to take part in a tour.

This was a great stop!!! The kids didn't want to stop initially, but ended up enjoying reading the plaques and learning about what was made here.We were quite humbled seeing the missing children in the law enforcement museum section, but it opened for a discussion topic that we don't talk about enough, and they wanted to understand more.

I visited the Old Montana Prison back in July of this year. I went on the self guided day tour, along with the overnight paranormal tour. The staff both day and night time guides are very friendly, along with being informative with knowledge and stories of the prison. I want to note that ticket price is a good value that provides admission into several other museums besides for the prison.

This place is a gem. Second visit while driving through. Wonderful place to stretch your legs during a long I-90 road trip. There are tons of buildings to explore and some animals to see up close. Lots of interesting facts about real life cowboys of the old west. Don't miss the chuckwagon chat. The house tours just reopened 6-27-22 after being closed for years due to COVID. Rangers and volunteers are knowledgeable and very interested in ensuring you have a fun visit as long as you're respectful of the historical artifacts.Make sure the kids get a Junior RANCHER booklet on the way in. Sure I am sure glad I found this very fun and informative ranch. There is no entry fee, thank you national Park service. The day I went there they were serving a free chuckwagon lunch. Make sure you sign up for the tour of the main house which is free but limited availability. Get to see what a working ranch is and was. They still farm the ranch and raise cattle and hay. As usual the park service people were very nice people. You could cruise through the place in an hour or spend 2 1/2 hours like I did. You will need to walk a mile or so. Plenty of benches around.

Gary Kowal — Google review

We walked around the ranch for a couple hours. Met a knowledgeable park ranger and a cowboy by the chuck wagon. Lots of interesting stuff and info. Totally enjoyed our visit!

Lisa Ullman — Google review

Awesome ranch and very knowledgeable. Staff enjoyed the tour of the farmhouse.

donna lee — Google review

Very impressive for a free tour. Unfortunately they did not let you take photographs of the inside of the house. It is mostly original artifacts inside. Very impressed for house of this age would be preserved this level. Also includes original barns and a bunch of historic carriages

Aaron N — Google review

Very interesting ranch and history. You must take the house tour. That was the best. Very informative and interesting. Definitely worth a stop. With tour it should only take a few hours to go thru the whole thing

Jennifer Perez — Google review

This place was pretty amazing!! We went to get our National Parks Passport book stamped but it turned out to be pretty spectacular!!! There was a working blacksmith shop and a real cowboy with coffee brewing over an open fire! LOTS of buildings to self guide through. Cows and horses and chicken. We went out of our way to go so we didn't have time for the tour of the house but wish we had! The views were amazing as well. The husband and wife team that we met at the visitors center were so nice and super helpful. They volunteer their time to work there! We were both super impressed!!!!

Jay Detty — Google review

We were lucky enough to visit the ranch on day when they were haying. Everything on the ranch follows the customs from the early 1900s and watching them use the beaver slide didn't disappoint. We were also fortunate to sit beside a lady whose father built over 50 beaver slides. She was a walking Wikipedia source. We did the house tour and most of the facilities. We spent about 2.5 hours and didn't see everything.

R R (Reggie78923) — Google review

Important place in Western US history. Late 19th century main house with period furnishings. Chuck wagon, bunk house, stables, historic horse-drawn wheeled vehicles, blacksmith shop, and other buildings. If you want to learn about late 19th to early 20th century ranching, the Grant-Kohrs Ranch is highly recommended.

Delbert Estey — Google review

This place was awesome and completely free (they accept donations). The staff was extremely knowledgable and entertaining. I would definitely recommend the house tour and chuckwagon tour. The covered wagon/horse tour was also nice, but I believe it only happens on Mondays. Many of the staff are cowboys and know how to lasso. They are happy to teach you if you ask!

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of elk and their natural habitat. The RMEF has a well-designed visitor center with interactive exhibits that are suitable for children. The exhibits showcase the story of elks and their environment, while a nature trail provides an opportunity to explore the surroundings. Additionally, the RMEF regularly hosts events for families and kids, which are professionally organized.

Wonderful place to check out while you're in the area! Besides being an important conservation group, the RMEF has a great visitor center that anyone can enjoy. They routinely have events for kids and families, which are always highly organized and professional. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are always clean and beautiful.Besides visiting, I'd also encourage you to look at becoming a member.

Steve Giralt — Google review

Amazingly wonderful place to learn about the local elk and their habit. It is free to get in and look around. There are great walking paths on the property that are also free to use. There is a small shop, but its only focus is on men with nothing for women or children. Prior to their remodel, the whole place was more family friendly in the activities as well as the shop.

Stephanie Watts — Google review

Elk Foundation Headquarters no longer worth a visit. With a big fence around it now not really a very welcoming place. Maybe there motto is "Welcome to Montana, now please leave." Nothing like an organization that pleads and whines to protect elk population and habitat only to roll up the carpet for the locals. Great example of a Missoula "citizen."

Susan Andrews — Google review

The Montana Elk Foundation continues to support the torture of animals, theft of pets and violation of fair-chase standards by providing funds and lobbying for trappers who represent a tiny fraction of the population. Their good work to preserve elk habitat is stained by catering to those who think torturing animals for profit and “fun” is a good thing.

Barry Dutton — Google review

Loved it. We went to visit on way through Montana, but it was closed. We ate out lunch on their back patio anyway.

Samuel Anderson — Google review

Incredible display of high-scoring elk and a nice variety of other taxidermy animals. Great gift shop and really nice staff. Doesn't take much time to go through the displays. Great for families. Highly recommend!

Janelle Dauenhauer — Google review

Well worth a visit. The only thing missing are live elk. The displays are very well done. Just about any question you have about elk can be answered here.

Mark Haskell — Google review

We were a party of 7 with my 3 younger granddaughters. We all loved the exhibits and the waking path. Read the plaques under the mounts, absolutely fascinating. Being 15 - 20yds from a male elk with a bow must be an experience of a lifetime.

Dean Becker — Google review

A cool experience in Missoula where you can read about elk information and conservation. We learned a lot with the interactive display/diorama. There's a nice gift shop as well.

DeeDee D — Google review

Great place to learn more about the animals in the area. My daughter loved learning about all the different animals through their interactive screen. An added bonus she really loved were the antler hats, stickers and temporary tattoo they give the kiddos.

Brittany Ball — Google review

Great taxidermy displays, educational videos and interactive screens about native animals. Enjoyable for adults, teens and kids. Worth visiting!

Shirlene W — Google review

Great place to learn about Elk and see some truly magnificent mounts. Staff was extremely friendly, willing to answer any and all questions. There is a gift shop / store for souvenirs or your RMEF swag.

Jae Naugle — Google review

This is a must see for any RMEF member near or passing through Missoula.

huntforfood1000 — Google review

I like everything about the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The recently remoded gift shop and entrance is very nice. If you have last minute Christmas shopping to do go visit the gift shop. If you want a gift that will last all year long consider becoming a member. Giving memberships to friends and family is also a great way to keep the program going.

Ghost town

Sights & Landmarks

Hiking area

Garnet Ghost Town is a well-preserved gold-mining town from the 1890s, featuring compact log cabins with period furnishings. More than a dozen buildings have been preserved in a state of "arrested decay", providing visitors with an authentic glimpse into the gold rush days when cities were built quickly and vanished just as fast. The ghost town has over 25 buildings to explore, and informational placards are available throughout the site.

Great ghost town, well preserved, and one of the best in the state.. Tons to see and there are placards around the town, explaining what this once lively mining town was like. There are over 25 buildings in the ghost town. You are free to roam around and explore the buildings and town. Depending on the time of year, the 10 mile or so dirt road may be like an amusem*nt ride with the washboard roads.

H. FergMT — Google review

Well worth a visit. Plan on at least an hour or two. Once you start exploring you won't want to stop. Be sure to stop by the visitor center for some good information. Remember to buy something and/or make a donation to help preserve this special place. And leave my big chair alone! If you see the chair, you'll know which one I'm talking about.

Lance Jack — Google review

It was an adventure to get there. The 200 route is smoother but if you are coming from the east, longer. We came through the rough ( bear gulch and cave gulch) and left on 200. Both are beautiful. The roads are one lane and pretty rough. We were able to do it with a front wheel drive vehicle so 4x4 is not necessary, but follow the signs. It was super tight when we met a car coming in the opposite direction but we were able to squeak by. The town is fun and has a beautiful setting. Some buildings are pretty rough and some have been fixed up a little. Well worth the adventure!

mary beth overmyer — Google review

If you want a "real" ghost town experience, this is for you. This town is well preserved and mostly abandoned with cool artifacts and wonderful structures. You can almost feel the presence of the past around you without crazy tourist traps etc. Just watch the road, come in via Dublin Gulch and Route 200.

Zachary Hottel — Google review

Great experience. Love to see historic towns like these. The scenery around was beautiful as well. Pack a lunch and drinks when you go there. Also, be careful on the gravel road, especially in a small car.

Paul Khela — Google review

Been here twice now. Well kept and rather secluded location. Both times I went there was only one other group of visitors. Unfortunately, today the doors to the main buildings (hotel, general store and speakeasy) were locked but we were still able to go into the miners' cabins. This is worth the visit, just be careful on the road up as it is very winding and it can be difficult to see other cars on the curves.

Harry DeVoe — Google review

This was a really fun detour on our trip. The roads were a little rough but was able to make it there in a sedan. The buildings are really cool to look at and the staff there are super fun to talk to. Might be a bit concerned with some of the wood in the buildings, I can see it becoming a safety issue in the future. Overall fun experience I would recommend stopping here

Nena — Google review

Coming from 200 the gravel road wasn't an issue with our full size rental car. Really neat place to walk around and explore. The information placards and the visitors guide were very detailed about the history of the mining and the town. It was a very fun way to spend the morning.

Megan Verzella — Google review

Great stop for a day trip! We had so much fun exploring this little town, it is very well maintained and clean with info posted about each structure. The downside was definitely the service and maps, we did end up with maps taking us down a dead end park road and getting lost for nearly 2 hours. Definitely map the trip there and to the next destination before you go while you have good service!

Miranda Fenlon — Google review

Well kept buildings and an informative brochure to guide you through it! Beautiful area but low riding vehicles not recommended. Great handicap parking spots available.

Kathleen Power — Google review

Beautifully preserved ghost town! You can even go inside the buildings, and some have multiple levels. The signage at each building provides great context that brings the character of the town to life. We came in from MT-200. The road up was pretty easy even though you gain a lot of elevation. We visited all the buildings in an hour and a half, but there are more trails in the area to explore. Bring cash to pay the entrance fee.

Ana Alonso — Google review

We took Bear Gulch Road to get there. Thankfully, we have a Jeep, and we enjoyed the rugged drive. The road out to hwy 200 was a much smoother experience. The grounds and buildings were well maintained. Nice little visitor center and brochures available, even placards at many of the buildings providing its historical significance.... nice to see school buses with kids learning our past.

Chuck Tracy — Google review

Awesome town. I would not attempt in 2wd or a car. Last section of the road had some good size ditches. Road was pretty sketchy in Dec with snow and ice.

Jason Osburn — Google review

Such a sense of gratitude for those responsible for preserving our history and especially to the extent of dedication taken here at Garnet Ghost Town. Here you get an authentic interpretation of how an 1800s Old West Mining town could have looked and what life might have been like for these folks. Several well preserved buildings and a treasure of antiques from that period. I especially liked the Wells Hotel and Kelly's Saloon. Absolutely fantastic and worth every effort to see this Montana Treasure.

Herbert Hutchinson — Google review

Amazing ghost town nestled on the top of a mountain. Well preserved and documented. Plenty of information plaques and most buildings have original furniture and items. Some buildings can be rented in the winter months too.Note: entering from the north side is much easier than from 90. Driving in from 90 involves a steep rocky mountain pass that may be a little too much for a sedan or those afraid of heights

BezikP51 — Google review

Beautiful spot & we’d definitely go again!! Absolutely no signal on the way up, so be sure to load map before heading there. Not a whole lot of signage. Hwy 200 is the best route to go. It’s a beautiful drive & room for 2-way traffic. The other route was totally harrowing! 😳

Becky McClintock — Google review

A special place to visit for a moment of quiet reflection.Accessibility info and site description: There are several disabled parking spots available, but no protected van-accessible parking. (Turn into the property through the gate, the main parking area and public restroom will be to the right, continue driving straight to find the disabled parking area). The walking path is gravel, about the width of a sidewalk, with grass on either side. Near the entrance, there's a few pieces of wood that intersect the trail, coming up off the ground several inches (see photos). The trail is wider along the outer circle, and narrows as you follow the statues toward the center. At the center statue, there is a brick path, but this area was roped off when I visited in March 2022 (unsure if this is temporary). Without access to the brick path, there is only a very narrow dirt trail around this inner circle. There is an additional public restroom on the far side of the property near the pond and gift shop. There are no benches along the trails, or anywhere that I could see. The distance from the disabled parking area to the entrance of the Dharma wheel is around 350 feet, and another 200 feet to the center statue. I would estimate the total distance around the wheel to be about a quarter mile. There is no fee to visit, but they do accept donations. This is such a unique, interesting, and peaceful place and I have enjoyed my visits over the years! Just a heads up to fellow disabled visitors: the gravel path is really difficult to traverse in a wheelchair, there is no snow removal from the path so it may not be accessible until spring, and there are no benches.

Gorgeous place, thousands of mini statues. I felt like I was at peace with myself while walking around the park. So much peace, clean air, it feels like magic. Highly recommended!

Jonathan Sandi — Google review

Such a beautiful museum. A perfect space that represents Buddha in their eyes of peace and serenity outside. For people to gently learn with the scriptures that have been written on the rocks and understand the equivalent piece that has been portrayed here. Absolutely delightful

J Kusel — Google review

Beautiful stop! Staff was so friendly and respectful! Flowers were gorgeous and it was so incredible to look at all the statues and the gods they represent. The hill was quite the climb in flip flops while the sprinklers were going and I definitely got drenched hiking up but it was well worth the adventure!

Miranda Fenlon — Google review

The Thousand Buddha Temple is an absolute gem! The tranquil ambiance and stunning architecture create an enchanting atmosphere that transports you to a world of serenity and spiritual beauty. The sight of countless intricately carved Buddha statues is awe-inspiring and leaves you feeling a sense of peace and reverence. Exploring the temple grounds and taking in the panoramic views is a truly unforgettable experience. A must-visit for anyone seeking a moment of tranquility and a deeper connection with history and spirituality.

Visited January 2nd. Very long drive from Whitefish. I do not know what I think of this place and cannot decide if the drive was worth it or not. The toilets - both at the entrance and diagonally across are HORRIBLE. Do not go there if you can help it.The gardens themselves are extremely underwhelming. Is it because it is winter? But then again what happened to designing gardens for 4 seasons? Winter interest? But I appreciated the opportunity to learn about other faiths. For some reason, I hoped to see 1000 different Buddha statues. 10 pieces around the circle, it was clear the entire set is exactly the same... Again, I do not know how I feel. Maybe just don't go in the winter. Might try it again in a different season - may be.

Peaceful from sky above to the glorious Montana soil I walked while walking this high vibe spiritual space. Even though it's winter & all the foliage is dormant the beauty of the mountains, statues & structures brought such joy within my soul~

This place is so relaxing and it literally puts your whole spirit at piece. As far as the eyes can see you have the epic mountains in the background with just calm and quiet energy engulfing you.

Ari GB — Google review

A must see for anyone if you're heading to glacier national park or near the area. This beautiful and vast hidden gem is surrounded by the view of the mountains in every direction. It is so peaceful and special here. The statues, plaques, quotes lead to contemplation, appreciation, and a sense of connectedness. An insurmountable sense of appreciation is inevitable here.

Breanna Plach — Google review

Interesting.... Peaceful. Buddhas set-up within a big circle. Nice walking path. Gift shop. Some additional sculptures, too.

Gaia Butterfly — Google review

Great stop if you're around the area, even in not so favorable weather. The grounds are so peaceful and clean. If it were nicer out the day I visited I'm sure I would have spent more time taking a more thoughtful walk rather than sort of hustling back to the warmth of my car. There are bathrooms available at the parking lot and a gift shop as well. No pets allowed on the grounds.

Sara O — Google review

This was an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place in the Middle of Nowhere, Montana featuring so many beautiful works of art, a koi pond, prayer flag mound, and a gift shop featuring water, prayer flags, little statues of Buddha, etc all VERY reasonably priced. This place was outstanding and if i could go again someday i would in a heartbeat. Be sure to bring coins as offerings, no pebbles or food.

Nature & Wildlife Areas

The Bison Range Wildlife Refuge is a vast native prairie land that serves as a sanctuary for various wildlife species in Montana. Visitors can enjoy viewing bison, elk, pronghorn, deer, and mountain sheep up close through the 19-mile long Red Sleep Mountain Drive loop road. A visitor center and several trails are also available for exploration. Non-tribal members are required to pay an admission fee of around $15-20 per car to drive around the area.

Unbelievably cool place to go to see bison and just about every other species of wildlife Montana has to offer. I would definitely talk to the people of the visitor sent her first to see which direction you should take first because the park is fairly large. Highly recommended!

Rob Birdwell — Google review

Visiting the National Bison Range was an unforgettable experience. The sprawling landscapes and the majestic sight of bison roaming freely were awe-inspiring. The well-maintained facilities and informative visitor center provided great insights into the history and ecology of the area. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing our visit with fascinating stories and facts. The opportunity for wildlife photography was exceptional, with not just bison but also deer, elk, and various bird species. This visit was educational, serene, and visually stunning, a must-see for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Alexander Olson — Google review

Beautiful drive and you get to get right up close to the Bison! We also saw white tailed deer and cows during our trip there. Gorgeous views of the mountains, and you even drive by a charming creek for a bit.

Liz — Google review

We are full time RV travelers and met our good friends in Thompson Falls. They took us to the Bison Range. It is well worth the hour and half drive through the range. You can stop and just view the bison and elk roaming free. Majestic animals are best when they are free. We saw Elk, Bison, a deer with a little doe. and Antelope in the distance. The employees are very nice and will answer any questions you have.

William Olson — Google review

Enjoyed this so much!!! We've been hiking in Glacier Natl Park, wondering where all the Montana animals are... well, we found them at the Bison Range! Well worth the trip - do the 19 mile drive if you have a couple of hours, it's worth your time!

Amy Cochran-Wiedrich — Google review

This was one of the best places to go on our Montana trip! Breathtaking views, and it was so nice to see the bison herds! The museum was very informative, as I am a tourist and had no idea about the history of the area. I am very happy to see that the local tribes have taken over management of this land and the bison herds. Staff at the visitor were helpful and nice.

Beatriz L — Google review

Enjoyed a leisurely drive on the longer of the two loops through the Bison Range, beginning about 1:30pm. $20/car. Just a few sightings on the first half, but a few gatherings of bison towards the end of the almost 2-hour drive. No getting out of the car. First section was a one-way road, then it was divided, though no visible markers. Just the kind staff gentleman who was making rounds backed up to inform us.A pleasant way to see the bison. Saw a few deer as well, but no elk on our afternoon trek.Highly recommend if you’ve never seen these beautiful creatures outside a zoo.

Sue Martindale — Google review

The Bison Range is such a good place to go when you’re looking for wild life and if enjoy slow steady rides in the out doors. Many bison, antelope, elk, and eagles. Non tribal members pay a fee to drive around, usually $15-20 a car. Worth the money.

Trinity O?rien carpentier — Google review

Stunning views of Montana as you drive through a preserve and see herds of bison and deer. Strongly suggest taking the high road as the views are spectacular.

BezikP51 — Google review

1) If you're really afraid of heights it might not be for you . It's a steep (at times) ride up a mountain 2) you'll definitely need a car wash afterwards. 3) it's a gravel road, so if you're picky about your car......4) It's INCREDIBLE! WORTH my fear of heights and we saw plenty of bison and an elk. Do it!

Lisa — Google review

what an excellent place to go, this place is very well-maintained. The price was very reasonable, and just $10 per car. We had a great time we took the hour long drive, and we were able to see Buffalo, some elk, and pronghorn antelope. It was really cool just to see them pop up out of nowhere. The terrain is beautiful and it is well worth the time and effort it took to find this place. You will not regret driving out here, it is just a real special place.

Josh B — Google review

Stop at the visitor center for $10 admission, and spend some time with the exhibits. Important history lessons. On the drive are gorgeous views! Saw snakes, birds, bison, elk, deer, and antelope. SO worth the 2 hour drive for us to get there. Take the long loop - you won't regret it!

Barbara V. — Google review

The first time I went was in fall and the Elk were bugling, which was awesome to see/hear. Both times I've been back, the bison have been pretty close. I've also seen antelope and deer, but have missed the big horn sheep. Love that this place belongs to CSKT now.

Diadra Goldes — Google review

Roads were not fully open because it is early in the season so I was a bit disappointed by that. But the place is beautiful, the Tribes have done good with it. Lots of nice picnic areas! A few short nature trails with lots of benches to sit on.

It was a lot fun visiting here! There was so much to see and it felt like we only scratched the surface. Most of the exhibits were very well organized although there were a few that were less cohesive.Would love to come back again!

Super cool museum. The only thing is that it's not very accessible. Most buildings have stairs and no ramps, and are cramped so people in wheel chairs or with strollers etc can't really view most of the museum. Besides that it's amazing. You can interact with alot of the items in the museum.

Hailey Nicodemous — Google review

After glacier national park and Flathead lake this museum was ranked high on our must see for our Montana trip. It was a wonderful way to spend the day. In one day it's impossible to see the entire museum but we only had a week. Thousands of great old items and wonderful metal art . Spend some time, make a donation. This place should live on forever. The amount of love and work that went into building it and continues to keep it going is astounding. 5 stars, the best. Don't miss it.

Very unique museum. If you want to see the whole place you need several hours. We were short on time but really enjoyed seeing everything we could fit in. The owners are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the things in their museum.

suzanne Chapman — Google review

During my weekend getaway to Montana this museum was the highlight of my trip. ♥️ The owners were extremely welcoming. There were so many amazing things there. When I go back to MT I’ll have to visit again. My favorite things were being able to sit in the helicopter, the 1912 juke box from Chicago, and the old passenger Indian motorcycle. I love that they have things you can play with and interact with. Absolutely worth a visit!

Not everyone visit this place when traveling to Montana, but i must say this is a DO NOT MISS spot. This place is 100 times better than any famous American history museum. Ill be making a few social media videos about this place because i really want everyone to know more about it. It deserves more relevance. Worth every penny and i only regret not having a few more hours to spend here. Definitely an important stop for anyone traveling between Bozeman and Glacier National Park

I was absolutely amazed by the amount of stuff this museum has on display. 40 buildings with everything you can imagine from the past. Definitely a must see and inexpensive to get in. I added 50 pictures. I took about 200.

kevin wolk — Google review

This is by far the best museum I have ever visited, and I've been to a lot. Its not as polished as some, but it has its own flavor and you can't beat how interractive you can be with it. There is something for everyone, and the sheer diversity of what you can find is staggering. You can stay there for hours and you'll still only really get a rudimentary vibe for everything. I spent way too much time dinking around in the little UFO play area. Do not miss all the interractive gizmos there. I loved it. 10 bucks for an adult made me feel like a highway robber by the time I'd left

Vectra 407 — Google review

This is a truly interesting place. It's going to be a bit difficult to describe. The scope of this museum's exhibits is truly extensive. There are exhibits and artifacts covering nearly every aspect of the history of how people lived and worked covering the early 19th century to the mid 20th century.Out back, --- okay this is a very specific reference --- but it's almost like Valkenvania from the (bad) film Nothing But Trouble, but in a good way. There are a huge number of mechanical artifacts, some restored, some in their natural condition, some turned into welded found-object art and sculptures. Some of the exhibits and artifacts are interactive, and these are clearly marked with signage, and I'm sure kids will love this. Even as an adult I enjoyed sitting in the Huey helicopter, putting my hands on the controls and looking around trying to make sense of the panels. Many of the exhibits and recreations are finely curated, however there is also a large portion of the collection which is more "raw" -- personally I enjoy that. Overall the museum is on the lighter side with regard to the "interpretive" aspect of curation - to me, at least, in many ways this is more interesting than every single thing being labeled and explained - but one should enter not expecting signage on each and every thing as if it were the Smithsonian.Got a chance to briefly chat with the founder while I was there, and he is a friendly and fascinating guy, and offered some suggestions of other museums we should see while on our trip!Overall, this place is a can't-miss. I doubt you'll find anything else like it in the nation, and am positive there is something for literally everyone here.

Fantastic place to visit and see all the historical machines that built this great country. Absolutely amazing place you can’t see it all in one day so we will be back

This has been the best museum I've ever been to. We just spent 4 and a 1/2 hours exploring and were so excited to be there. Alot of American history and interactive, we got to sit in alot of vehicles and ring bells and all sorts! I can't recommend this enough, this would have to be at the top of my favourite days we've had in America & Canada (in 8 months) and we nearly drive straight past it and missed it. So much stuff but it's all so cool and interesting and so many different exhibitions. Some of my favourites were the old car sheds, the diner, the fur shed, the army vehicles. There's so much to see and for all of $10usd ea. The owners were greeting people and were genuinely interested in us. Thank you for creating this place, it looks like a lot of handwork, effort, time and money has gone into this Museum! From the New Zealanders

We have driven past the museum so many times, but never when it was open! Today it was! My husband (a history buff) was so excited and loved sharing and showing our son all the different memorabilia. Now, touring the inside of the building with a 3 year old....not a good time, but once we got outside...it was a new world! Both my kids loved it, my husband loved it and he is already planning to go back without the kids! Lol

This place has so many awesome items, huge and small. There were so many items inside, then outside was its own world. My husband is from Polson and loved the local stuff but the rest spoke to me. This place is amazing AND pet friendly!

Visited here with my wife, her brother, his wife and their teenage son. This is definitely an eclectic, roadside museum. It is WAY larger than it looks, with a ton of small buildings behind the large road facing building and each one packed floor-to-ceiling with all sorts of things historic, military or antique. There are a lot of motorcycles, guns, military vehicles and aircraft. There are also a lot of antique household items. My brother-in-law and his son especially enjoyed the large building of blacksmith materials. There were some interesting items to me (like the helicopters, some gigantic rifles, and -strangely- the old dilapidated carnival ride), but I got overwhelmed pretty quickly with how much there was to see. Honestly, a lot of times I wondered why something was displayed. The largest buffalo killed in Montana made sense, tons of spark plugs not as much. It was relatively pleasant though, but would benefit from some heavy handed selective curating. I wouldn't recommend this for small children, as there is not a lot to catch their interest that they can interact with safely. Half our group really liked it. The museum, as you might guess by the name, has a strong patriotic, constitutional theme. The overall repeated message is that freedom must be paired with responsibility.

This place is amazing. What I post is a miniscule amount of what this place has. Definitely worth a full day. They also demo much of the equipment. Great people working there.

Surprisingly large museum. I have been there many times and I always find new things. Every inch has some hidden or not so hidden historical treasure.I helped for a handful of years in the blacksmith shop for the living history days. That's always a good time.

Hands down my favorite museum outside of the Wright Patterson. Obviously comparing the two is out of the question, but the fact remains; this is my second favorite of all time. The admission price is a bargain as well. I found myself throwing money in the donation bins out of sheer thankfulness of keeping so many awesome things from becoming scrap. The Miracle Of America has more rare items outside in the dirt than some museums have on display. Although many displays are crude, or hastily put together, do not mistake that for second class. The sheer number of items simply could not be properly displayed. While the displays could have been condensed and the mishmash avoided, that would have meant never seeing some of the neatest artifacts of our history. These "extras" are normally locked away in storage. However, that misses the point. I WANT to see 2-3 versions of the same piece, in different states of use and abuse out in the open. I do NOT want to only see single, perfectly restored, versions behind glass and under blinding lights. The rawness shows the real history of the items. That smell, some may find as unappealing, is just another sensory input to bring me back to the time periods where these items were born. Each fleck of paint missing a story unto itself.Anyone that is enthusiastic about anything mechanical, as I am, you will have the time of your life finding all the seemingly forgotten treasures in every exhibit. I, more than a dozen times, found myself gasping at the sight of something so rare I had only ever read about it. Eagle eyes will be rewarded with many one-of-a-kind treasures. Give yourself several hours to take a fraction of all of it in.

Park

Big Arm, located within the Flathead Lake State Park, offers visitors a vast recreational area to enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, hiking and camping. The park features three affordable yurts that guests can stay in along with tent pads for additional guests. While staying at one of the yurts or campsites along the lake's shore, visitors can appreciate the beautiful scenery and make use of amenities like fire rings and picnic tables.

Beautiful!! Breathe taking views. No electricity but they have fresh water spouts, clean bathrooms, clean showers, firewood and ice. Many spots are shaded with perfect cover while some are more open! Camp hosts are so nice and knowledgeable about the area and the park! I will come here again anyway, thumbs up!!!

Great place to walk during winter. There are paved trails if you choose to take the easy way.

Clean and easy to access. Boat launch and dock made getting in and out to the lake easy. Camp site was right on the water. Beautiful place to see and play.

Tent camped here and absolutely loved the site - right on the lake, close to the bathroom but still private. Fire ring and picnic table. Great opening in the trees to sit right by the lake.

I camped here for the night and had a great time. Dog friendly. Just make sure to leash them or you will be told too. I had a lead for my dog and a leash. The camp host I spoke to first was super nice. Then the other camp host came by to introduce herself and her husband. They both just wanted to make sure I was getting settled in. It’s hard to find this with people. At least for me it is and I would definitely come back. Beautiful spot.

I stayed in one of the 3 yurts they have. It was very clean. I would suggest bringing another heater during the cooler nights. They also include a tent pad next to the yurt for guest. The Yurts are $50 to $60 per night plus a $10 reservation fee. This is a great deal to stay withing walking distance to Flathead lake.

No hookups or dumpsite. Water is available but not at every site. Restrooms and showers available. Every campsite has a picnic table and firepit. Very clean and quiet. Highly recommend reserving a spot online as they fill up fast.

Loved this park. It offered quiet views of the lake and an easy place to launch boats. We stayed in a Yurt here and cannot recommend it more. If you can book one, you should. Check in was easy and inside the Yurt there was lots of light, fans, heaters and a pole to open the top of the dome. You also can open windows from the outside. Spacious decks are also around the domes for enjoying the view. Bunk beds and tables inside the Yurts too. Dog allowed inside 2/3 of the Yurts. Bathroom facilities were pit and well maintained. We were too late in the season for running water (9/28). Loved the Yurt, loved the park, if you have time you should stay here!

My son and I took the half day Glacier Overlook ride with Swan Mountain Outfitters through the beautiful National Forest near Glacier National Park from their East West Glacier location. Caity was our guide and she made the ride very memorable and was always willing to stop the ride to make saddle and stirrup adjustments for the less experienced riders like my son and me. It just so happened that we were the only riders booked for our time slot, so we basically had a private trip. The ride took us up to a cliff edge that provided a beautiful view of Glacier National Park and the surrounding areas. Caity was very knowledgeable about the area, including the foliage and names/backgrounds of the various mountains. We were able to sit out on the cliff and soak in the beautiful nature around us. She even picked some huckleberries for us to sample. The ride was at a comfortable pace and included some inclines and declines adding just the right amount of difficulty for inexperienced riders like us! In talking with our guide, we learned how Swan Mountain Outfitters looks after their horses ensuring they are in good physical condition while not being overworked. While I didn’t have the opportunity to go horseback riding with another outfit, I believe I made a great choice and would definitely book another trip, possibly an all day ride ending with a cowboy cookout !

The worst customer service experience! My friend was visiting from out of state for a week, and I wanted to show her all that Montana has to offer! So, our schedule was pretty tight. When booking our horseback ride, we knew we would not have time that day to take advantage of going to Glacier Park so were going to schedule our horseback riding outside the park. However, the time we wanted was not available outside the park, but the lady taking our reservation assured us that since we would be horseback riding in the park, we would not have to pay entrance into the park. However, when arriving to the park we had to pay a $35.00 vehicle entrance fee. Additionally, when making our reservation we asked for direction to the corral and the lady ensured us it was very easy to find. We were to enter West Glacier Park and within 2 miles of the entrance we would see the corral on the left. This was not the case! You must turn left down a road to locate the corrals. Since we were looking for a corral not a road we were late arriving and could not call to let them know or ask for better direction as there was no cell service. Once getting to the corral I was able to get cell service and saw I had a voicemail from the corral stating since we were late, they were leaving without us! We ran up to the corral only to find out that no one had left. The horse were not even present! They were still waiting for the horses to return from the scheduled ride before us.! So therefore, the voicemail stating they were going to leave without us unwarranted. Since the horses were not even present everyone had to wait 2 hours after their scheduled ride time before being able to get on a horse!! Like I mentioned previously we had a pretty tight schedule so this 2 hour wait ensured that we were unable to make it to our next scheduled activity. When I called to explain my experience, the company was unapologetic and just kept making excuses like “well they were probably late because it was raining!!” and there was not a cloud in the sky that day!! I do not recommend this outfitter unless you are willing to experience terrible customer service and a very hectic and chaotic experience during what is supposed to be your vacation.

Do not book a elk hunt with this company! My wife booked a archery elk hunt and we are avid white tail hunter and claim to know absolutely nothing about elk hunting, that being said there are a few thing that are quite common is animal movement, be in the woods before sun rise and don’t come out till after dark we returned every day with hours of sunlight left to hunt one day they where headed down the mountain back to camp at 3 in the afternoon. Let me back up for one sec. My wife also paid a extra 1500 for a one on one guide in witch 2 of the days there we didn’t have a guide at all! When we said something to him he did some speaking with his guides and agreed to give us back 750 to which we have not seen! Look there’s just way to much to write there was 0 preseason scouting done regardless of what snippy little comments he come back here with. The guides though they where super nice guys to have a beer with do not take your hunt or your money seriously felt like a camping trip not a elk hunt I’m just trying to help the next archer don’t do it! There are solid outfitters in the area when your at the airport or in town just ask a few ppl about them it’ll be clear! Now I will say the cook and the food where really good and the scenery was awesome but we didn’t go there for any of those thing if your there to hunt forget about it save your money you would be way way better off doing it your self! I promise!!

We were supposed to take the 2 hour trail ride but I'm not sure that's what it actually was. I was so focused on the well being of the horse I barely noticed scenery. My horse almost fell 3 times due to the steep and rocky "trail". Overall, I just felt bad for the horses the entire ride. I do not recommend.

Met up at base camp at around 3000’. Rode 12 miles in about 5 hours into the Swan Valley to the upper camp around 5400’.Upper camp was a beautiful camp nestled amongst the tall pines with the lion creek running through camp. Our source of water for the week coming from the melting snow still covering the swan mountain range. Camp was made up of 6 wall tents and a camp dining tent. Our tent had two cots which would be our home for the week. The food far exceeded my expectations. Kris was the camp cook and she was fantastic. We had restaurant quality breakfasts and dinners every day. And her packed lunches were just as good on our rides. We took two rides. One up through the lion creek pass into Bob Marshall. That ride was about two miles and took us to 7000’. After crossing the pass we found two beautiful mountain lakes. Swimming in the lakes was a great experience. So clear and cool. From this point we looked out across a vast wilderness. The second ride took us up towards the peak of swan mountain. Couldn’t make the peak. Rode to about 7500’ in only 1 1/2 miles. Very steep up and back. Becky and I hiked another 500’ in elevation to get to some snow. Where we made snowman in august. The wildflowers up there where everywhere. Thousands of them. Despite being in the most populated area of the lower 48 for both brown and black bears we didn’t see any. We did see a few elk and had mullies come into camp one morning. Our guides were incredible. Matt and Kyle. So knowledgeable and provided us with a great experience. The pictures and videos just don’t do this trip justice. And the horses were so incredible. We rode trials that barely had enough room for all four of their feet. And the way they ascended and descended those trails was amazing. Some so step we had to lead them down. The stars went on forever. We covered about 30 miles in 4 days and went from 3500’-8000’ and back. Such an appreciation for our horses. Mine was ‘hammer’. I cannot begin to explain how great sitting in the saddle feels and riding those trails. Montana I will be back. And if your looking for a top notch once in a lifetime experience visit Swan Mountain Outfitters. Best in the business.

Incredible trip! Took the 3 day pack trip ~15 miles in. Coming from Chicago, the views were breathtaking. The experience was rewarding. Although our group was comfortable in the outdoors based on previous camping, we had barely any riding experience prior to this. Don’t let that stop you if you were like us.The guides (Nelson and Kevin) were informative, reaffirming, and listened. They took whatever concern you had seriously, and addressed it to ensure you were comfortable. It truly is your trip and what you want to do. Our camp cook, Stephanie, made fantastic meals, but we also found ourselves sitting at the table or riding the trails sharing stories with her. She was amazing. The rides can be hard at times—very steep inclines/switchbacks. But, you need to and learn to trust your horse. They’re incredible animals—literal athletes in every sense—that the outfitters truly care for and you learn to truly respect/admire. The horses have done these trails hundreds of times, so you quickly learn to trust what you learn during your orientation, but more importantly, trust your horse when technical parts of the trail come in front.Only negative/feedback I would give to SMO is to be more clear on tipping at the end of the trip. Although stated on the site and materials provided, it was still confusing at the end of the trip. All because we wanted to make sure we were compensating everyone appropriately for an amazing trip! Just caused a little frustration among the larger group but nothing to deter from this experience. You’ll see views you would never be able to see any other way. You’ll experience new, sometimes challenging but always rewarding, things when it comes to the ride. And, you’ll make some friends along the way.Recommending to all my friends/family. Thank you SMO! Will not forget this trip.

We did a 2 hour tour out of Many Glacier to Cracker Flats. Our guide was Dita. We had a great time! They staff goes over all the safety guidelines, helped my short person stature up on my horse. Dita was very informative and engaging throughout the ride and we get a cute pictures at the end. If you do not regularly ride a horse, I would suggest the one or two hour ride because it is a workout! It was the perfect excursion for something different on my husbands birthday. Highly recommend!

Our group of 5 had an amazing time on our 2 hour trail ride leaving from their corral in West Glacier. Roger and Ethan were great helping us get on our horses and doing the safety demonstration. We had a mix of experienced and brand new riders and they paired us great with our horses. Ethan was a great guide and pointed out plants and told stories about the trails we were on. The horses were all very well-mannered and enjoyable to ride. The views from the hike were also so beautiful and we all agreed it was the best experience anyone has had on horseback. 10/10 would recommend Swan Lake Outfitters to anyone!

Mallory Moehring — Google review

We went on the half day ride to glacier overlook. We had a lot of fun! The horses are extremely mild mannered. I do believe they take into account your experience on horse assignments. I have been riding all of my life so they gave me a horse that needed to be in the back because he doesn't like having other horses behind him. But I didn't have any issues with him at all, he was a sweetheart. Our guide was awesome! He made sure to constantly keep an eye on us to make sure things were going okay. My friend rode who has very little to no experience and she had a lot of fun. This is fun for anyone.

Rising college-age stars perform in popular Broadway musicals at this summer stock theater.

In full disclosure before I review, my daughter is a cast member. We travelled to see her perform in all four shows. My husband and I kept saying to each other after every show "...no one is going to believe us back home when we tell them how absolutely professional and amazing these shows are". Our family has seen a good bit of theatre over the last 5 years (and paid much more for tickets) and are so incredibly impressed with the quality of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse shows that we just saw. The choreography was top-notch! Vocals absolutely stellar! Transitions were seamless. The live musicians were excellent. Also, I am not sure when/if I have ever seen better acting! Drowsy Chaperone was hysterical...the whole audience was laughing most of the time. Joseph was a delight on many levels. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was simply beautiful. Mama Mia was so great that we were still singing the songs in the car on the way home.I will most certainly follow the careers of many of these actors to watch for their inevitable successes professionally!

We had a wonderful time watching Elf. They need to have roped lines for waiting in line though or some sort of organization. We went in the door thinking we had to exchange our on line tickets as that's the notification we got but found out we didn't. We were waiting for our daughter to park and join up with us & just stood inside. We saw the lady selling tickets say something so I went over to see what she said, she basically told us the line was in one spot (the lobby was PACKED) so NO ONE coming in knew where the line was, and that we were ALL crowding. Well if that's the case the solution would be to have some direction before it gets to that point in the lobby. It's winter folks no one wants to wait out in the cold. Other than that it was so festive & a great show. I would love to help out if you need.....

Lone Pine State Park is a picturesque woodland park that provides visitors with scenic trails for horseback riding, hiking, biking and snowshoeing. The park features a delightful visitor center, walking trials and an overlook that is handicap accessible. You can also spot wildlife while hiking on the well-defined paths. However, visitors must be cautious of prairie rattle snakes which could be seen along the trail leading to the cliff at Lone Pine State Park.

The view at Lone Pine lookout is breathtaking! The visitor center is very much worth the stop.

Gorgeous little hike that overlooks the city. It was raining when we went and it was still an amazing morning walk, but I'm sure it would be even better at sunrise or sunset especially on a clear day.

Went up on an entertaining hike with the Bissell 5th and 6th grade field trip to the Lone Pine Park. Good place for a short walk with your dogs or just for the good views. Lots of really nice well taken care of pathways. Although some ice removal on some areas is definitely needed in winter. Last time I went (about a week ago) the ice was an inch or two thick in some spots along the main trails. But overall one of the best spots in Kalispell to go and get some sunshine.

Fracturedhourglass — Google review

A great place to go for short or long hikes. Amazing views over the valley. The level of difficulty is very low on most trails, and they are all connected and easy to navigate with clearly marked signs. Will most definitely be returning for more hiking adventures with the kiddos.

We enjoy this park SO MUCH! They offer several kids/adult education classes (most free!) To learn about the outdoors and the wildlife in the park. The visitor facility is always tidy and a great stop to check out for locals and travelers! The only "downfall" was one of the classes we joined in on was a new ranger from out of state was teaching about local vegetation and edible resources you can find in our forests. However- the reason I mention she was not local is I found most questions we had she either Googled or did not know. I don't know how their program training works but she may have felt more confident with training prior to leading the group. Otherwise all the classes we have attended have been wonderful !

Very Close to Kalispell, Easy Access Trails and a Small Education Center. The access road is easy to navigate. Parking is out front of the Education Center.Inside is a small but quaint store with local huckleberry foods and cute toys for sale. There is a small education center where you can walk around and see animals and interactive exhibits. There is a classroom where they hold instructional programs. There is a wonderful nearly panoramic view of Kalispell from the main trail. From here you can continue on down the hill to other walking trails or walk back to your car.

To start with the obvious, the views are pretty awesome no matter the time of day. And secondly, it's a very easy hike considering you can drive to, basically, the top and park. If one chose, you could park at the bottom and hike all the way to the top. This isn't too strenuous of a hike either, but this being Google maps and all, it could get difficult for the hard to move around crowd. At the top, whether you've chosen to drive or hike up, is a visitor center. It has all the usual, wheelchair parking, restrooms, and other facilities. I do believe it's available for rent, or reservations of some sort, since my mother and brother were wed there. (NO, NOT TO EACH OTHER, C'MON FOLKS!) You'd have to check with them for sure.I'm any event, it's worth the trip if you find yourself looking for something too do that's close to the Kalispell area, and don't wanna spend any cash. 👍

The Conrad Mansion Museum, built in 1895 and now fully restored, offers guided tours by period-dressed guides. It is a significant part of Kalispell's history and boasts beautiful gardens ideal for picnics or leisurely walks. The mansion's Christmas tour is especially enchanting due to its stunning decorations every year. Inside the house are original pieces from clothing to cookware and electrical appliances.

Fascinating place with original furniture, clothing and toys. The guided tour is very worthwhile.

The place is fantastic. What a beautiful house and the story of Mr Conrad was awesome. To have fought in the war of the states and then made two fortunes. 9 million dollars back in the 1800,s WOW

We took the guided tour. It was amazing. Original everything inside the house, from clothing and jewelry to cookware and electrical appliances. I wish they had offered group rates, we went with a family of 5. It was a bit pricey.

Conrad Mansion is a historic site in Kalispell that is a well maintained museum. While impressive on the outside, it is even more impressive on the inside. It has high-end architectural features, quality wood and had 'modern day conveniences' for it's time. Lots of beautiful woodwork. You get pulled back in time into the life of the Conrad family. It isn't uncommon for there to a cheaper day annually for locals. They also have events around Halloween and Christmas.

The Conrad mansion is a beautiful piece of Kalispell's history and their gardens are great for a picnic or a small stroll. They've redone their gardens recently and they did a beautiful job. I've been on their tours a few times too which are all really interesting. Their Christmas tour is especially magical since the mansion is decorated beautifully evey year. My husband and I actually got married there so you could say we're a little biased!

They have adorable fairy houses set up on Thursdays. Such a beautiful setting for these houses. It was fun to see.

Lovely tour, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and amazing mansion/museum. I’ve done several mansion tours in the west and this house was stunning! I loved the real artifacts and family stories that have been kept alive. I would like to see more info on the ground/architecture though. Thanks!

Wonderful mansion and nice reading about the family's history when walking through it. The mansion is very well taken care of, the caretaker and the rest of the staff do a fantastic job. This is a must see historic site.

This building is a mansion, an architectural master piece with historical significance to the city of Kalispell. Spacious, lovely green grass and well maintained. I couldn't enter because I missed the time of tour of the building. It's affordable and their staff are friendly and courteous. Parking is on the street so try to arrive early.

Amazing! We did the docent tour. Don't waste your money on the self guided tour. The Docent was so knowledgeable and personable. Don't miss this Kalispell attraction!

Interesting historical home with unusual features. Look for the secret tiny doors built into the wall under the main staircase. Fun story. We took a self-guided tour but overheard the tailend of a guided tour. Guided tour would add to the experience. Check out the Faerie Steps nearby (search GPS) and how they are associated with the Conrad family. Photos are allowed without flash. I don't want to give away all the surprises but will show where to find the secret doors.
