Do you have to give Oskar money in BG3? ›

He costs 600 gold if players pass an Intimidation or Persuasion check and 1000 gold if they fail. Beyond that, despite Oskar's promise of reward, Oskar actually needs more money for the trip to Baldur's Gate. Players who refuse this cost will have freed Oskar but won't get his quests in Baldur's Gate.

Not a bug - the only way to get friendly with Zarys is to save the two who are fighting the gnolls and never do anything with the shipment - don't ask about it, don't try to steal it, nothing. If you do that, go back to the cave after a long rest and you will find a surprise...

If you let Rugan deliver the strongbox without tampering with it, or if you kill him and Olly and deliver it yourself, you'll receive gold and a special crossbow known as the Harold. Additionally, delivering the shipment yourself prompts Zarys to offer you more work if you ever make it to Baldur's Gate.

I do think you should always buy and free Oskar Fevras in Baldur's Gate 3. Though it is a steep price to get him, it is possible to work for the Zhentarim gang and earn some gold that way. In addition, setting him free opens up the way for some awesome quests in Act 3.

The player does NOT need to pay the additional 200 gold when freeing Oskar in order for him to show up in Baldur's Gate and continue the questline, the extra 200 gold is for changing around companion reputation.

Now free, Oskar will ask the party for 200 gold of traveling money. He'll get to Baldur's Gate either way, so don't bother giving him anything. After that, he'll run off, and players won't see him again until Act 3.

Lockpicking the box open is tempting, but if you do so, you'll be locked out of some specific rewards, so it might not be worth it.

So, what do you get if you agree? First off, your character will visually get a whited out eye. This will give you the Paid the Price condition, meaning you have +1 on Intimidation checks but disadvantage on Perception checks or when you're fighting Hags.

Accepting Astarion's bite improves the protagonist's relationship with him and can lead to a deeper bond, but refusing it only results in a minor setback. While there is a risk of death associated with Astarion's bite, it does not turn characters into vampires and has only minor physical effects.

Out of the choices given to you, it is best to store the Iron Flask back into your inventory rather than risk a confrontation with the trapped Spectator. Updated September 27th, 2023: Players that explore every possible nook and cranny of Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3 should eventually come across a chest containing the Iron Flask. This mysterious item is part of a question and players are instructed not to open the chest or use the flask, and for good reason.

If Oskar survives, you can claim your reward by meeting him in the Atelier. Make sure to quicksave before you do. Oskar will paint you a portrait, but it seems very bugged as to who he will actually paint. The first time, I got a painting of Shadowheart, while the second time, I got a black square.

You can let Kerri kill Oskar, but this will cause the ghost to disappear and Lady Jannath to blame you for her new husband's death, leading to no reward. You could also kill Kerri or convince her to leave Oskar alone with a strong enough Persuasion or Intimidation check once again.

If the party did not free Oskar in Act One, he can be found in the Guildhall. He managed to persuade the Zhentarim that he is more valuable when not kept in captivity and now makes a living making forgeries of paintings.
